One of the Email accounts shows the "sent" folder in this state. I am able to send and receive email with the account. Does anyone know why this happened or how to fix it? It is a very heavily used Email account.

but is there an unread mail in the folder? With IMAP accounts it is possible to get an unread sent mail downloaded from say your phone or other device

That should mean there is an unread message in the Sent folder.

If this is not so, then right-click it, select Properties and then Repair Folder.

Thank you Zenos for responding. I did try what you recommended however it did not fix the problem.

Hello Matt, thanks for responding. You lead me to scroll down all 3000 or so emails in the Sent folder and yes, one of the sent emails, for some reason was highlighted - unread. I clicked on the email, it got marked read and the problem went away. Thanks for your help.

It might be time to create another folder for your existing sent mails and move them to it and compact the existing folder.

You have had one strange event, often the precursor to more (including data loss) unless you do a little housekeeping

Matt, I took your advice. Thanks.
