Getting the "This Connection is Untrusted" message again after having selected the, "I Understand The Risks" option, which doesn't reappear as an option
I'm getting these messages for Hotmail.com even, as well as mozilla website. I am actually on Chrome now for the first time because this is a brand new issue and I am not sure why all of a sudden this has happened. I've added exceptions but still get the message. Its not the common FRAME issue because these are not frames as described in other answers to this problem. I've RESET FIREFOX and although it is getting a bit further with HOTMAIL.COM the screen now remains blank. MOZILLA support page is trapped in some older format and not in its most advanced state. I also deleted the cert8.db file which also did not work. the error message on the page is the same sec.error.issuer. I am also using Avira free personal antivirus and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it as it seemed to have some missing features but to no avail. I am not sure how to disable the SSL scanning with AVIRA even though I looked it up briefly online. Not sure where to go from here but to suffer using an old install of Firefox that does not allow me to view youtube videos etc
Chosen solution
ok, unfortunately the fiddler2.com issuer in certificates might be a sign of unwanted software present on your pc that is intercepting secure network traffic. please go into the system control panel and uninstall programs like BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard or other software that sounds suspicious and didn't get installed by you intentionally.

afterwards, run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.

hello, first please make sure that the date, time & timezone are set correctly on your system. if this doesn't solve the issue (or it is already set properly), a possible solution depends on different factors:
- what is the error code shown under technical details on the error page?
in case the error code equals sec_error_unknown_issuer, please attempt to add an exception on the bottom of the error page & inspect the certificate (see the screenshot attached for instructions):
- which issuer information does the certificate contain?
thank you!
"This Connection is Untrusted" error message appears - What to do
It seems once I RESET FIREFOX it has created a new issue and I'll try to describe it and post pics to the best of my ability. Now once the exception is made the "get me out of here" screen does not appear. What happens now is I either get a blank screen or an old format page. For example Mozilla.com through firefox looks like shown below, so does Yahoo.com with the exceptions in place. the time settings are correct for my region btw.
here is how the hotmail or even outlook.com pages end up. I'm not sure why they won't open normally now. But it all started with the mozilla certificate warnings, then me adding an exception to the page, then when trying to open the page again, the dead end "get me out of here" error warning.
the file labeled "error message" was the dead end warning I'm talking about for hotmail.com
please inspect a certificate on the page you're having troubles with loading and report back with the issuer information as described above.
I am no longer getting the "the connection is untrusted" error. how else would I be able to inspect a certificate without that?
for example go to https://mozilla.org - you can then click on the lock icon on the left of the address bar and go to "more information" > security > show certificate.
Okay I figured it out. Here are two screen shots, one is for hotmail.com or live.com and yahoo.com. the two types of issues are Hotmail won't completely load it stops as a blank white screen and yahoo.com goes to that basic looking no frills page as I posted above if you can see it, if not you can actually see in these photos on LIVE.com the page is white in the backround and on the YAHOO its that basic no frills look.

is there another way to find items like "browsersafeguard, BrowserSafe, Safeguard etc? I when into uninstall programs and didn't see any to uninstall. I'm going to do a scan with malwarebytes now and adwcleaner if I have it.
Okay I deleted some of the recent installs that were unfamiliar to me and its working again. Must have been something attached to one of those. All good now.
you can also sort the programs by date and see if anything got installed recently that you could link to the date when the issue first occurred (but it's obviously far from sure that rogue programs would provide a reliable way to uninstall them through the control panel)
edit: ah ok, i see you already got it sorted. please run a full scan with the two tools nevertheless to make sure there aren't remnants on other places on your system as well...
