How to switch back to the previous UI style
Is there any way to switch back to the pre v31 UI style? Why was the UI changed in the first place? The UI was the area with the least amount of issues, especially when it comes to styling and color scheme. I rather see Mozilla devs allow for multiple clients share the same locally stored mailbox structure than waste their time on constantly changing the UI. So, any way to get it back to how it looked like before rather than have everything be dark blue and battleship gray? That is especially annoying when creating new emails. The header section is all gray providing much less contrast and with the faint lines there is barely any separation between the header rows. That is totally against what 30 years of UX research produced. Any remedy for this?

Were you using a theme before perhaps? I have seen no real difference in Thunderbird UI since about V12
I've just updated to latest version 31.0 and there is no change in the colour scheme in the UI.
In thunderbird I've only got the default theme 31.0
However, I'm running Vista OS and I've got a windows colour scheme that controls how the window appears.
You can modify your window or download a theme that you prefer to use.
- Control Panel > Personalization
- Choose Theme
i've got windows vista
- choose Window colour and Appearance
i've got Windows Vista Basic my windows colour as shown in the attached image.

Hi! Thanks for the many responses. There were UI changes in v31 especially when writing new messages, but a search through the themes resulted into a nice 'classic' view. So, this is all set now. Too bad that I had to fish for an add-on just to undo these pointless UI changes.
