There are several threads on this. Problem does not seem to be solved. Resetting the password in Thunderbird has not helped. Is this a Thunderbird problem at all ? I get the error message SOMETIMES in Thunderbird when I try to access my Nokia OVI account - now Yahoo. The problem has been on going randomly for months. I have never, ever, had the problem with Tiscali/TalkTalk emails. I get problems on the same OVI account on my Nokia phone, password rejected. I note other posters say they have problems with access to BT accounts - now Yahoo. On other forums I have seen reports of the same error message to some AT&T accounts - now Yahoo. I have not seen this problem reported for any provider other than Yahoo. Other forums suggest the problem is with, some, Yahoo message server software versions.

I do not understand how all this works. Could Thunderbird raise the issue with Yahoo?

Would love to, but Yahoo told us to hang off publishing their IMAP server settings until they were further along with the release to allow testing. That was about three years ago. They still have not got back to say ok, go now.

I think the IMAP stuff has been out there about two years now, so our track record on achieving anything with Yahoo is not good. But I think your right.

Yahoo are doing a cheap job for everyone and the paper over the cracks is peeling.

I have just been reading some of the chatter in the web and I think it is entirely possible this is an anti virus issue. Especially if your anti virus ( or some other program) is holding your passwords. Programs such as Nortons password vault, KeePass , LastPass and Kaspersky Password Manager among others could all be implicated in the issue.
