Cannot find Sent folder

I have just migrated my client's emails to Thunderbird from Outlook Express, which included a Sent folder. However, there doesn't seem to be any other Sent folder (like there is on mine, for example.) Why is this? He has a Windows 7 system, running Thunderbird 24.6.0

all outlook express stuff goes into the import folder.

There is no sent until you send a mail, or at least than is how I understand it, likewise no trash until there is something to put in it.
