Thunderbird won't let me delete the 'all mail' and 'Important' folders

more options

When I try to delete the all mail and important folders in the folder pane I get a response that the current command did not succeed. I don't think I really need these folders as they duplicate what is in other folders. Is there a way of deleting these folders?

Chosen solution

Try reading the gmail help. They are the ones limiting what you wanted to do, not Thunderbird.

You really don't want to delete 'All Mail'. https://support.google.com/mail/answer/82367?hl=en&ref_topic=3397500

You can unsubscribe from 'All Mail' in Thunderbird though, which will hide it in Thunderbird. File (Alt-F) - Subscribe

Thanks; that was really helpful. It's a pity I couldn't find the answer anywhere in Thunderbird help.
