I somehow lost a user profile. I am sure I did not delete it but it no longer shows up when I start Firefox.

I believe it was after an update that only one profile is showing up. I no longer get a choice of profiles Firefox just opens. Can I recover my other profile. And if so how?

Thank you!

Do you mean that the Profile Manager doesn't start?

Make sure that all Firefox processes are closed to make the Profile Manager appear if you start Firefox with the "-P" command line switch. You can check that in the Windows Task Manager on the Processes tab.

Is that profile still present on the hard drive?

  • C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Thanks to cor-el I have found that I have the profile I am looking for. However the problem is I do not get the "Choose user profile" box upon selecting Firefox to start. It starts with a profile and does not allow me a choice as to which one.

So the profile exists but I cannot access it through the choose user profile box because I don't get the choice the box does not open.

Thank you COR-EL that worked. My desktop shortcut was missing the -P. I added it in the properties and now it starts.

Thanks again!
