Chosen solution

I suggest you ask McAfee how to turn off their spam adviser, not a Thunderbird issue.

Have you tried compacting your inbox?

If you aren't aware of how to do this and why, check out this link:

Nothing to compact - it has done it since installation -- i see others have the same problem and has not been solved

I know it says it does it automatically.

Here is something else to try.

"Quit Thunderbird.

Locate the global-messages-db.sqlite file in your Thunderbird Profile . Delete the global-messages-db.sqlite file. "

The Global Database will rebuild, when you open Thunderbird again. If the problem is still there, compact your inbox again.

I know this sounds strange, but it has worked for others, although it may not be your problem. There are other strategies to try if you don't meet with success.

No success -- think i will uninstall and reinstall

Check the spam tool in your anti virus program. Most of these issues originate from there.
