when i watch Altera's online trainning lesson(the address is http://www.altera.com/customertraining/webex/MemInt_CN/presentation_html5.html), Sometimes, the lesson will pop another webpage to show something(for example, click 5.2.2 or 6.7 when timeline reach the end, there will pop out one webpage) when i use firefox, no matter on PC or linux, there will come out a lot of same webpages which make my fedora down, but indeed it should be just one. however, ie just pop out one webpages

I think you are talking about pop-ups.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a good add blocker.

Do you mean that IE can keep re-using a single video viewer window over and over as you load different segments, but Firefox isn't able to do that and opens a new window each time? Or is the problem that the windows Firefox opens do not close automatically when the video is finished and IE does that?

I tried to open that link. This is what I got;

The document name you requested (/customertraining/webex/MemInt_CN /presentation_html5.html)) could not be found on this server. However, we found documents with names similar to the one you requested.

Available documents:

/customertraining/webex/MemInt_CN/presentation_html5.html (common basename)

Were you trying to say that the pop-ups were part of the lesson?

sorry for my poor English. Pop-up is part of the lesson, and there should be just one pop-up. But when i use firefox, there will be a lot of pop-ups, which makes my fedora and windows 7 crash down. IE is ok, IE will pop up just one.

If you want, answer in your own language.

There are two things to try.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a good add blocker.

  • 2

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware. Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is there for. Also, check the programs that are on your computer Windows > Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. (Mac: Open the "Applications" folder) Go thru the list and use a web search to check any that you don't know what they are.

Sometimes Firefox will attempt to open a link numerous times if it is a type that normally cannot be displayed in Firefox but which has somehow become assigned to Firefox, for example, by choosing Firefox in the Open/Save/Cancel dialog for a download.

To see whether this is the problem, you can reset your preferred download handlers by renaming a settings file. Here's how:

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either of the following:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
  • Help menu > Troubleshooting Information

In the first table on the page, click the "Show in Finder" button (on Windows: "Show Folder")

Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
  • File menu > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename mimeTypes.rdf to something like mimeTypes.old

Start Firefox back up again. Any improvement in how the site manages windows?

If you decide to continue with the new file, you may need to reset some preferences, such as how Firefox opens PDFs.
