There is a feature called Firefox Sync that will do all of that easily! This includes your history, bookmarks, open-tabs, and installed add-ons! I think you will love this feature!

This link has steps on how create your own firefox sync account.

Using the backup option (based on.json) is probably better than the export (.html) version, IF only bookmarks are involved. Also you may want to transfer other things such as the History and passwords.

The new Sync should be able to handle most things correctly.

CARE if NOT using Sync
You may need to use the .html files however if the new machine also has a few bookmarks on it that you need to retain. (.html will tag on to the end of other bookmarks .json overwrite them) The small number of bookmarks may be exported as .html and imported again afterwards.

If you try to use the sync method by the way make certain that you are using Firefox29 and the new updated Sync, on both machines do not try with the old version of Sync and Firefox or you could run in to problems.

Whatever you do make sure you backup the Firefox profile first. If anything goes wrong and you have not done that you may regret it.
