I am able to delete a given site in my History file by right-clicking on it and indicating to delete it. How do I erase the entire file when it is no longer of any use to me?

  1. Bring up the Clear Recent History dialog.
    • Click the ≡ Menu Button, then the History button, then Clear Recent History.
    • Click the History menu on the menu bar, then Clear Recent History.
    • Press Ctrl+Shift+Del.
  2. Set "Time range: Everything" and check "Browsing & Download History".
  3. Click the Clear Now button.

You can delete the places.sqlite file to remove all history. Firefox will use the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder to rebuild the bookmarks.
