Only a portion of the original message displays with a blue bar next to it, like this:

This summary is only a small portion of the original email. I like to respond by inserting comments after the original text. With this summary display I cannot do that.

Thanks.

Here we go. The problem is how the sender replied to a message then sent to you. He/she inserted the reply above the quoted text, and added a sig delimiter '-- '.

When you reply to the message you received, TB treats everything below the sig delimiter as signature, and cuts it off. This is the intended behavior.

So ideally the reply should be inserted below the quoted text. Since this is beyond your control, use 'Forward' instead of 'Reply' as a workaround. You'll then need to add the recipients manually in the 'To' field.

What's the format of the message you're replying to - plain text or HTML?

Have there been any replies already in the message you're replying to?

If so, have they been inserted below or above the quoted text?

I am not sure if the sender is using HTML or plain text, but now that you mention it, this situation does not happen with every message I reply to... My messages are sent using HTML format. Is there a way to force the original message to display in my replies, regardless of whether the sender used plan text or HTML? Thanks!

Let me rephrase the question. Do you see a sig delimiter '-- ' anywhere in the message you're replying to?

Yes, there is a -- in front of the signature of the person I am replying to.

Good. Now try 'Forward' instead of 'Reply'. Is the quoted text still cut off?

more options

No it is not.
