Somehow, it seems that I have two versions of 29.01installed. One is the US version and the other British version. One that has all my bookmarks and history displayable, but there is no firefox address/browser bar visible. The other version has no bookmarks, and using profiles search produces none available, however this version does have the firefox address/browser bar visible. Can I uninstall both versions and then download and reinstall a new version, and at the same time regain all my bookmarks and browser history?

Chosen solution

Make sure not to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox because that will remove all Firefox profile folders.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Thanks for the advice, but I took a chance and I uninstalled both versions. However I had saved my bookmarks to a profile on my desktop. On reinstalling Firefox and reset the browser, all bookmarks, history etc were available, its seems nothing was affected by the installation. It is great that there is always someone out there willing to offer advice. Thank you both again. Colandus
