You can set Firefox as your default browser on your Android device. When you make Firefox your default browser on Android, links from apps like Gmail or Facebook will open directly in Firefox. This helps you browse with more privacy, speed and flexibility every time you tap a link. Follow the steps below to set Firefox as your default browser.
Warning: The minimum Android version required to install or update Firefox for Android and Firefox Focus (in their Nightly release channels) has changed from Android 5.0 to Android 8.0. To use these versions, your device must be running Android 8.0 or later.
Android version 10 and newer
- Tap the menu button
- Tap .
- In the General section, search for the Set default browser option.
- Tap the toggle
next to Set as default browser to turn it on.
- Select Firefox from the listed browsers.
All set! From now on Firefox is your default browser.
Android version 8 and 9
- Tap the menu button
- Tap
