I forgot my Mozilla account password and I can't sign in to Mozilla VPN

If you’ve forgotten your Firefox Accounts password, reset it to a new password, then log in to Mozilla VPN with your new password.

Note: You may lose some of your synced browsing information if you reset your password without recovery keys. We will be able to recover your payment information but not your browsing information, bookmarks and logins.

Reset your Firefox Account from a desktop or laptop computer

  1. Click on the menu button Fx89menuButton to open the menu panel.
  2. Click on Sign In next to Sync and save data.
  3. On the Sign in page, type your Firefox Account email and click Continue.
  4. Click Forgot password?
  5. You will be asked to enter the email address associated with your Firefox Account. Firefox will send you a reset email.
  6. Follow the instructions received in your email to change your password.

After signing in with your new password, remember to update your password on each of your synced devices.

Reset your Firefox Account from an Android device

  1. Open the Firefox app.
  2. Tap the menu button.

  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Turn on Sync.
  5. The options Ready to Scan and Use email Instead will appear. Select Use email Instead to be taken to the Sign in page.
  6. Type your Firefox Account email and click Continue.
  7. When you're asked to type your password, click on Forgot password?
  8. Enter the email address associated with your Firefox Account.
  9. You will receive an email with instructions to reset your password.
Once you’ve changed your password, log in to Mozilla VPN with your new password.

Reset your Firefox Account from an iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Firefox app.

  2. At the bottom of the screen, tap the menu button (the menu will be at the top right if you're using an iPad):

  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Sign in to Sync.
  5. The options Ready to Scan and Use email Instead will appear. Select Use email Instead to be taken to the Sign in page.
  6. Type your Firefox Account email and click Continue.
  7. When you're asked to type your password, click on Forgot password?
  8. Enter the email address associated with your Firefox Account.
  9. You will receive an email with instructions to reset your password.
Once you’ve changed your password, log in to Mozilla VPN with your new password.
Any data you have on the server will be erased when you reset your password (unless you use recovery keys). Your other devices will stop synchronizing unless you update them with the new password.
