This article applies to the latest version of Firefox for Android. Please update your version first to enjoy these features.

Tracking protection allows you to take control of your privacy online. While Firefox has a Do Not Track feature that tells websites not to monitor your behavior, companies are not required to honor it. Firefox's Tracking Protection feature puts the control back in your hands by actively blocking domains and sites that are known to track users.

Tracking is the use of online services to monitor and share your activity so companies can target you with behavioral advertising. While Private Browsing lets you browse the Web without saving your information, companies can still watch your behavior through tracking elements on websites that you visit. When used with Private Browsing, Tracking Protection lets you be truly anonymous by blocking these trackers.

What is Tracking?

Tracking is the ability of a website to keep tabs on a user's activity using special software tools. Websites store information about your Internet activity into files called cookies. Many websites use cookies as a way to keep stats on your browsing history so they can target you with behavioral advertising.

Firefox prevents companies from collecting your information without your consent by blocking websites that do not honor Do Not Track.

The initial blocklist used by Tracking Protection is based on Disconnect's blocklist.
