Firefox's Bookmarks toolbar gives you quick access to often-used bookmarks. This article describes how to use the Bookmarks toolbar and how to hide it.

Show or hide the Bookmarks toolbar
The Bookmarks toolbar is shown by default on the New Tab page but you can also show it on all pages, or it can be hidden.
To show or hide the Bookmarks toolbar:
- Click the menu button
, then click and select
- Click the button at the bottom of the screen.
- Go to the menu and choose one of these settings:
- will show the Bookmarks toolbar on all pages.
- will hide it on all pages.
- will show the Bookmarks toolbar only on the New Tab page.
- Click .
- Click in the Firefox menu bar at the top of the screen.
- Go down to the menu and select .
- Choose one of these settings:
- will show the Bookmarks toolbar on all pages.
- will hide it on all pages.
- will show the Bookmarks toolbar only on the New Tab page.
Remove or restore Other Bookmarks folder
If the Other Booksmarks folder in your Bookmarks Library contains any bookmarks, an Other Bookmarks folder icon will appear at the end of the Bookmarks toolbar by default. To remove it from the Bookmarks toolbar:
- Right-clickRight-click (or hold down the Control key while you click)
on a blank spot at the end of the Bookmarks toolbar (or on the Other Bookmarks folder icon) to open the context menu.
- Click on the menu item to remove the check mark.
To later restore the Bookmarks toolbar Other Bookmarks folder icon, right-clickhold down the control key while you click on a blank spot at the end of the Bookmarks toolbar and then click on the menu item to add back the check mark.
Add bookmarks to the Bookmarks toolbar
- Set the Bookmarks toolbar to (see above) so that you can see it on all pages.
- Go to the page you want to add to the Bookmarks toolbar.
- In the address bar, click and drag the padlock icon onto the Bookmarks toolbar.
After adding bookmarks, you can reset the Bookmarks toolbar to your preferred setting.
Re-order bookmarks on the Bookmarks toolbar
To change the position of an item on the Bookmarks toolbar, click and hold the bookmark or folder you want to move and then drag it into position.
Add toolbar items to the Bookmarks toolbar

Bookmarks toolbar still not showing?
If you've followed the steps above but the bookmarks toolbar still doesn’t appear, try these solutions:
Check Firefox is not in Full Screen mode
Full Screen mode hides the toolbar by default.
- Press F11 (on Windows/Linux) or Control + Command + F (on macOS) to exit Full Screen.
- Move your mouse to the top of the screen. If the toolbar appears, Full Screen was likely the issue.
Make sure the toolbar is not set to "Only show on new tab"
Sometimes the toolbar is set to appear only on new tabs.
- Click the and choose .
- Select the panel.
- Scroll to and set it to .
Restore default toolbar settings
A custom configuration may be hiding the toolbar.
- Right-click the toolbar area or tab bar.
- Select .
- Click at the bottom right.
- Click .
Restart Firefox or check for updates
An outdated or glitched session may prevent changes from taking effect.
- Restart Firefox: Close and reopen the browser.
- Update Firefox: Go to > > to check for updates.
Check for interfering extensions or themes
Some extensions or themes may override toolbar visibility.
- Click the button and select .
- Disable extensions one by one to test if one is causing the issue.
- Switch back to the if you're using a custom one.
