There's never a good time for a crash, and when Firefox crashes in the middle of something important it can be really frustrating. Luckily, we've got some easy things you can do to avoid crashes and keep Firefox running in tip-top shape. For the tech savvy, we've got articles that will help you troubleshoot and solve specific problems. And don't worry if you need extra help with any of this, we have a community of volunteers standing by.


Update your software

Crashes can be caused by different programs running on your computer. Making sure they are all up to date on a regular basis will help you avoid crashes and keep your computer secure and running great.

  1. Update your plugins: To check to see if you have the latest versions of all your plugins, go to our Plugin Check page.
  2. Check for viruses or malware: Update and run anti-virus and malware scanner tools on your computer.
  3. Get the latest version of Firefox and your add-ons: To check for Firefox updates, click the Help menu at the top of the Firefox windowon the menu bar and select Check for Updates.... If you need more help with this, check out Update Firefox to the latest release.
  4. Update WindowsOS Xyour system: Go to the Start menu, select All Programs and then Windows Update.Go to the Apple menu and select Software Update...Go to the System menu, down to Administration and select Update Manager.

Troubleshoot your crash
