It's that time again. We need to figure out what's changing in Firefox 24 for desktop and Android. If you'd like to help, check out the research documentation and post your findings in this thread. Also, let me know if you'd like to be added to the Researchers Group.
The basic process works like this:
Use the research documentation to find bugs for things that have changed and post them here.
Decide which of the things posted will need to be documented.
Figure out which articles will need to be changed and add a needs changes note to the article

4. You can now disable the download finished animation using a hidden (Trying to make it shown) pref in about:config without turning off the whole new panel.
maybe a new article can be made about this one too if not already created
Couple of things.....
1. A new "Close Tabs to the right" is introduced as built-in into firefox 24, right clicking a tab will have a option to close all tabs on the right.
* [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=866880 bug 866880]
* hmm this article needs a update? => https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tabs-organize-websites-single-window
2. There is also a change with about:home (Firefox Start Page), the search engine will autoupdate when you change search engines from the search bar.
* [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=860119 bug 860119]
* hmm this article may need a update too this is all i found for the firefox home page => https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-default-home-page-has-links-to-features
3. Also as defualt the new tab page preloads
* [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=791670 bug 791670]
seems no articles need changing due to this

These may be wrong, correct me is so.

for the close tabs to the right feature, hopefully i did every thing right if not correct me
Can you also add me to the "researchers group", thanks in advance!
I have now edited this article (needs approval)
* [[Use tabs to organize lots of websites in a single window]]

So right now we're not editing articles. Our wiki doesn't even support Firefox 24 yet (should happen in the next week). We're just trying to figure out what has changed (step 1 above). Then we'll decide what things will need to be documented. For example, this is a feature that I'd argue doesn't need to be documented. If you use the contextual menu to do tab operations then this new feature is self-explanatory.
Can you also add me to the "researchers group", thanks in advance!
Yes!

3. change the ctrl/cmd-shift-j keyboard shortcut to open the Browser Console (it was used by the Error Console). Many users have muscle memory for this (I do too). It makes sense, I believe, to get existing users to work with the new Browser Console.
From the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/24.0a2/auroranotes/ Aurora Release Notes]:
Improved and unified [http://www.robodesign.ro/mihai/blog/the-browser-console-is-replacing-the-error-console Browser console] for enhanced debugging experience, replacing existing Error console
Related bug:

The only article I could find that will need to be changed is [[Keyboard shortcuts - Perform common Firefox tasks quickly]], which lists the "Error Console" shortcut the under the '''Tools''' section. A simple revision is needed to substitute "Browser Console", based on [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=602006#c46 bug 602006 comment 46]:

Spoke too soon. Instructions for using the Error Console are given here, under the section, '''After upgrading your graphics driver''':
*[[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Can't seem to find an article for them but imo it could be documented in one article.
For Android:
* Ability to share open tabs between NFC-enabled phones
* [http://sriramramani.wordpress.com/2013/06/12/share-quickly/
Easy access to your favourite share application from main menu.]

Challenge: find the other Firefox for Android 24 features :-) !
For Android there is also the Android permissions change aka "bump" for geolocation, NFC bump and other features:

There is WebRTC support by defualt in Firefox for android
hi waka_flocka_flame:
yup good catch, thanks!
but web RTC is not user facing (i.e. no user visible features) in FF24 so we can safely ignore (for SUMO documentation purposes) Web RTC in Firefox for Android 24
there are more user visible features in FF Android 24
Challenge part 2 :-)
Would love for others to research the other Firefox Android 24 features and put links to bugs and wiki pages in this thread

For those doing Firefox for Android Research, there's a streamlined way to do research (since Erin Lancaster and Karen Rudnitziki update the Firefox for Android Roadmap often sometimes multiple times daily; unfortunately there is no such continuously updated roadmap for Firefox for Desktop so this streamline way only works for Android):
Read the roadmap wiki page and all the wiki pages it links to for that release and all the bugs it links to and summarize it in your research notes
Subscribe to the Roadmap wiki page (requires you to register to on wiki.mozilla.org)
Subscribe to the wiki pages for the features you are researching
Subscribe to the bugs for the features you are researching (requires you to register on bugzilla.mozilla.org)
As you get updates, update your research notes
When you are done post the results of your research in the research thread for that release.

I seem to see a little cosmetic change in the about:support page that in version 24 has also the Show update history button just below the product version.
Bye :)

Live-update about:home when defaultEngine changes - Bug 860119 - Does not need to be documented - the feature now works like it should.
Close Tabs to the Right - Bug 866880 - Does not need to be documented - If you use the contextual menu to do tab operations then this new feature is self-explanatory.
Enable new tab page preloading by default - Bug 791670 - Does not need to be documented - this is not user facing - just makes pages seem to load faster.
Toggable download animation - Bug 861613 - Does not need to be documented - this is an about:config pref.
Show update history button on about:support - Does not need to be documented - this is pretty inconsequential
Well need to create a new "sharing" article for Android and document these two things. You can also share things from reader mode - that could go here too.
Others
Enabled support for WebRTC - Bug 750010 - This doesn't need to documented - the functionality exists but the only things that make use of it (and expose it the user) are mainly developer demonstrations (some of which don't work well).
Thanks everyone! Here's what we have:

These articles need updating and new screenshots since at least Firefox 24 since the drop-down options are "Allow Now" and "Allow and Remember".
