Here it is: I am trying to watch the NHL playoffs on my computer. Only a quarter of the video appears (upper left) the rest is all green. I have tried a bunch of things to fix it. I tried what was suggested here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/968863?esab=a&as=aaq. It is the same problem I am having.

In trying to solve my problem, I created a new one as well. I reset firefox as the support suggest but now foxtab doesnt work. I reinstalled the plugin in and the icon appears in front of the url bar but nothing happens when I click on it. Wishing I hadnt reset firefox. At least it kept my bookmarks.

I have the latest version of adobe flash player, and firefox. I tried going to the previous version on firefox but it didnt help.

Anyone one have suggestions?

Okay, a couple things.

First, the earlier thread related to a high resolution Retina display. Do you have one of the newer "more than HD" displays?

Second, for the green color issue, you could try disabling the Flash Player plugin's use of hardware acceleration, which is an independent setting from Firefox's hardware acceleration setting. See:

Third, let me address the reset issue in a different post.

The reset should have created a folder on your desktop named Old Firefox Data with at least one folder inside it, typically with some randome letters and numbers followed by "default". Can you find that? That's your old profile folder.

Here's my suggested profile resurrection procedure using that oddly named folder:

Overview

These are the steps:

(1) Create a new Firefox profile
(2) Remove everything from that new profile folder
(3) Copy in everything from the old profile folder

Create a new Firefox profile (Windows)

Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):

firefox.exe -P

Note: Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.

Click the Create Profile button. Use the default location (i.e., do not click to choose a different folder). Then select that new profile in the dialog and start Firefox.

Open the New Profile folder in Windows Explorer

Firefox in the new profile should look like a factory fresh installation. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using either:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table, click the "Show Folder" button. Firefox will launch your brand new profile folder in Windows Explorer.

Leaving this folder open, switch back to Firefox, and Exit. This will leave that profile folder open in Windows Explorer.

Copy Old Data in Place of New

In that new profile folder, select all the contents and delete.

Leaving that window open, open or switch over to your Old Firefox Data folder. Drill down into your old profile folder. At this level you should see a folder named bookmarkbackups among other things.

Select everything and Copy (either right-click > Copy or Ctrl+c).

Switch to the empty new profile folder in other window and Paste (either right-click > Paste or Ctrl+v). This may take a minute since some of the files are large.

Start Firefox

Firefox should start up in that new profile with the resurrected old profile data. Success?

You need to install FoxTab version 1.4.10:

Ok that fixed the video player issue. Might need to update my driver on my computer. I will try that later. I will work on the foxtab issue in a bit and let you know. Thanks so much!
