downloaded file can ot be opened. error message: Downloads/wmpfirefoxplugin.exe.zip, and cannot find /home/alphonse/Downloads/wmpfirefoxplugin.exe.ZIP, period.

after downloading a plugin or sometimes a video, this file can not be opened. an error message such as 

End-of-central-directory signature not found.  Either this file is not
 a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive.  In the
 latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
 the last disk(s) of this archive.

zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /home/alphonse/Downloads/wmpfirefoxplugin.exe or 

         /home/alphonse/Downloads/wmpfirefoxplugin.exe.zip, and cannot find /home/alphonse/Downloads/wmpfirefoxplugin.exe.ZIP, period.

 Plugins have been downloaded.  repeated efforts to play the video gives the message  necessary have not been installed or ....pugin needed.
