Just about everyone I have seen post from of late complaining as you do have used the quick filter to exclude all of their mail
Generally they have clicked on one of the buttons such as attachment and as they have no emails with attachments they see nothing, others have clicked on unread and once the have viewed all their mail they see nothing. Check that each of the quick filter button is greyed as the image shows. If I select them the little bar goes blue to show that filter is active. I assume that blue colour is theme dependent.
