Version 139, problem persists.
So you see no autocompletion suggestions, even for websites in your browsing history? That works for me. For example, when I type "su" in Firefox 139, the address bar suggests support.mozilla.org.
Did autocompletion work for you in versions before Firefox 138?
Is the "Search browsing history" setting enabled in your Firefox settings > Search menu?
Do you see search suggestions from Google (or your default search engine)?
this happened to me, too, on Android Firefox. I'm not sure what version it started, but it was around 138, too. the OP didn't mention browsing history. for me, searching browsing history does work what does not work, and what stopped working around the 138 update, is autocomplete url, independent of the browsing history. I have it set to clear all of that when I quit the browser. what happened before was I would type in cn and cnn.com would populate. was would autocomplete washingtonpost.com. yout would fill in youtube.com. again, this was independent of browsing history. in summary: it worked, then the upgrade happened. then it didn't work. I don't know specifically which version upgrade it was, but it was around 138. I have cleared all the cache at the app level. I have tried it with extensions and with them remived. none of this helped. thanks!
Hi folks,
We've finally figured out what happened! Firefox for Andorid used to include a predefined list of domains for the suggestion feature, but that capability was recently remoevd as the list had become outdated.
That said, address autocomplete based on your browsing history should still work as expected. So if there are sites you visit often, I recommend visiting them directly a few times, so Firefox for Android would recognize them from your history and start suggesting them automatically.
In the meantime, our team is actively working on an alternative approach to provide domain suggestions, though I don't have additional details to share just yet.
Thanks for your patience and sorry for this inconvenience!
