Saved Passwords not used after copying profile to snap

I recently "upgraded" my computer from Ubuntu 22.04 LTS to 24.04 LTS. When I did, the installations of both Firefox and Thunderbird was deleted and replaced with snap versions. Luckily, before "upgrading," I made copies of the profile directories and ran a 'backup' in Thunderbird. I was finally able to get Firefox to see the saved passwords, but no matter what I do, Thunderbird refuses. I tried doing a 'restore' using the .zip file that 'backup' created, but that didn't work. So then, I deleted that profile and copied the old profile directory over. All of my settings, contacts and emails are still there, but it REFUSES to acknowledge the saved passwords. I need to know how I can fix this. Thanks.

For future reference, profiles created in zip format by thunderbird do not include passwords. That is for security in case the zip file falls into unfriendly hands. If there are saved passwords, thunderbird is using them. if you are receiving error messages, it may be that the password is wrong or the settings are wrong. On your request, you can manually extract the passwords with these steps:: - setting>privacy&security - click savedpasswords and then showpasswords - copy the passwords for your backup\ - then, highlight the rows that apply to that account and delete them That clears the passwords, so when you next retrieve messages, the account should prompt for password and you can enter it.
