I was away for two weeks. Now I am unable to download email. I get a message that says "websites - can't reach this page took too long to respond". What needs to be done to be able to move forward?

Are you referring to Thunderbird or Firefox? Thunderbird doesn't, to my experience, refer to webpages for retrieving messages.
