When I try to add my outlook.it e-mail on thunderbird, it says: "Unable to authenticate on server. Configuration, username or password may be wrong'. I have checked many times the correctness of my password and I have also tried to change it and to configure manually my e-mail, but it continued to show me that error message. Thanks in advance for the help. Davide

Chosen solution

Create an app password for the account, remove the password from Saved Passwords in TB Options/Privacy & Security, set the authentication on the incoming and outgoing servers to 'normal password', restart TB, enter the app password when prompted.

What is the authentication method for the account (should be 'normal password), and is two-step verification set up for the account? If it is, use an app password instead of the account password in TB. Also, if it's a POP setup, POP must be enabled in the webmail settings.

yes, the two-step verification is set up on my account, but (sorry for the inconvenience but I’m not English) what's an app password, the OTP of Microsoft Authenticator? I have tried to log in with the oauth2 authentication service in TB, but it says that my mail isn't correct, (so the trouble could be my e-mail?) I tried to log in from the official Microsoft website (login.live.com) and I could to log in Thanks for the help
