Slowdown of Fx26-30, graphics issue with no workaround (Bug 973149 )

  1. Probably worth watching for this problem.

    Not strictly a Fx30 problem but unresolved in Fx30 Mainly on WindowsXP

    It did have a workaround but no longer. There is an unasigned bug

      Firefox 27 updated automatically; since then it is very slow to open pages, very often freezes (page goes white), and it is often impossible to scroll. /questions/988258
      How do I downgrade from v.28 to v.26? /questions/990934 (... fix by removing "Cairo" from the Azure backend no longer appears to work. CPU maxxed out.)

    All I can think of as workaround now is suggesting Unofficial third party Firefox Portable ESR Builds

  3. I have not seen much new information on this. Clearly it is still an issue.

    At least last week it looks bug973149#c31 as if a potential backout was identified.

  6. Rachel, Thanks for the replies & the pm.

    Lets remember Fx30 is apparently crashy and I notice other top crashes are apparently memory related.

    Gzipped Files I do not see any method of attaching to pastebin, instead they have to to be copied as text and then lose features and interactivity. Privacy is obviously an issue but, another good reason to use a separate profile and public sites, when reproducing resulting in better reproducibility and the privacy issue may be sidestepped. If privacy is is an issue on Sumo, then it is also on bugzilla, both are public viewable, but sign in to post. Bugzilla does allow gzip attachment.

    As side issues that HelpDesk may wish to review Any progress or updates on

    • Higher crash rates in 30? {Cheng Wang} /forums/contributors/710406
    • Firefox crash signature
      gfxContext::PushClipsToDT(mozilla::gfx::DrawTarget*)

    {AliceWyman} /forums/support-forum-contributors/710420

    Note all the above issues may require or benefit from file attachment.

    (I will remove [Attn: HelpDesk] from the thread title )

    P.S. Dropbox apparently allows gzipped files but that is possibly not its intended purpose (Maybe sumo use of it should be the paid for version). I am not sure there are many good alternatives for sharing gzipped files.
