Hey guys!
One thing I've been noticing for a few weeks is a rise of users complaining about ads while using Firefox. I have a suspicion that this is a group of add-ons that are hijacking user's Firefox installs to display ads.
If anyone does see any threads on this issue, can you please get a list of installed add-ons and extension IDs so we can deploy blocks. Thanks guys!

Um no. These are pop-up ads. We've seen they are caused by a few add-ons, one of which, appbario7, is somehow evading our blocklist. We are looking into it.
Let's try to stay helpful John.

That was not mentioned in your OP. Although I can't recall seeing and replying to any such posts recently.

Yes the "Mozila FireFox system tools 17.54.5468" appears to be recent as there is a thread at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2846699 about this also.
With regards to this thread - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1007352 - about Mozila FireFox system tools 17.54.5468 - we Moderators need to do a better job policing postings and breaking potentially harmful hyperlinks that are posted, to keep our users from accidentally exacerbating their problems by reading a support thread and clicking on a posted hyperlink which isn't safe.
I just spotted 2 problems that I just fixed in that thread; one a hyperlink to an executable for that Mozila FireFox system tools 17.54.5468 installer and the other to a Facebook URL that almost locked up my PC. Not sure what would have happened with that Facebook URL if I wasn't using NoScript; as it happened, the Facebook page was reloading every second and it pegged my CPU at 100%

Just a note about the the Mozila ... thread
I emailed Tyler about the thread /questions/1007352 yesterday and attached the executable file in my email.
I suppose it would have been better to break the link. I have done in the past but am getting a bit reluctant to tamper with users posts after the new guidelines saying it is up to Admins not Mods to edit user posts.
Although I do now note the current version did include allowing Mods to edit executables and was not quite as limiting as it initially appeared it would be.

I would say; if it's dangerous, Unlink it <dot> and post a warning.
