Firefox 43 for Android is available now!

(A wee bit less stuff than FF42!)

Firefox for Android mandatory signing for add-ons has been moved from FF43 to a future release (probably FF44). Firefox for Desktop 43 does have mandatory add-on signing so it is ahead of Firefox for Android.

  2. Is the mobile Firefox 43.0 Release going to be listed in places like https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/mobile/releases/ ?

Some people cannot or do not want to use the Google Play.

  3. no idea james, i'll ask rel-eng

if you cannot use google play, as i bet you already :-) know, you can use nightly or aurora (which is not ideal for non savvy users i know!):

    1. nightly https://nightly.mozilla.org/ (unstable because we try new stuff there that sometimes we remove before it goes to aurora and beta and release)
    2. aurora https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/#developer (not as stable as release or beta but should be much better than nightly)

    cheers!

  4. Yes I am aware of those options ;)

Ah never mind about those bugs I had listed.

However the mobile Firefox 43.0 appears to be on severs now. https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/mobile/releases/43.0/ https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mobile/releases/43.0/

I guess 43.0.1 or 43.0.2 is not needed.

  5. Hi

Worth mentioning that I had a chat to Mobile last month about Fx on Kindle (KB article awaiting sign off), which touches on the issues of directly installing *.apk files.

The overwhelming opinion was not to use Release or Beta, but to use Aurora. Whilst there may be some unresolved issues, this version does automatically advise users of updates, which Release and Beta (when you do not install from Google) do not.

We are getting a number of requests about Kindle (hence the article) but I think that the approach should be the same for all non-Google installs. Aside from the updates, Aurora has a nice "user friendly" download page.

Mobile are happy with the article content, just awaiting the KB article to be approved and I post details.

    Hope this helps.
