  3. apparently the dot release will be required to update the signature on the setup file to be compliant with new windows signing requirements (sha-2) before the end of the year, but i don't understand all the details of this yet...

  5. Firefox 43 has a change to the autocomplete list on the URL bar. Depending on whether the user has autofill enabled (default) or disabled, and search suggestions enabled (default) or disabled, some different items may now appear at the top of the list.

  7. Now that Win64 Firefox is more visible by being on www.mozilla.org/firefox/all page compared to the Win64 Firefox 42.0 Release.

Perhaps there should be some mention about the Win64 only having 64-bit Flash Player and Silverlight white listed. So if people want to use other Plugins they need to use Win32 Firefox and 32-bit Plugins.

Either on https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/43.0/releasenotes/ and or on https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all

I don't know who would edit www.mozilla.org pages to add that information but I suppose a bug request is needed.

    The Use plugins to play audio, video, games and more article includes this note: {for win7,win8,win10} <!--Windows 64-bit Firefox requires Windows 7 or above (bug 1093741)--> {for =fx42}{warning}Important: The new 64-bit version of Firefox for Windows currently recognizes and supports only the Adobe Flash plugin. See this Mozilla blog post for details.{/warning}{/for} {for fx43}{warning}Important: The 64-bit version of Firefox for Windows currently recognizes and supports only the Adobe Flash and Microsoft Silverlight plugins.{/warning}{/for} {/for}

The various plugin articles have similar notes.

I just edited How to install Firefox on Windows to mention the new Windows 64-bit Firefox in the note under "For advanced users" which links to the www.mozilla.org/firefox/all page. I was thinking about mentioning that Win64-bit Firefox plugin support is limited but I wasn't sure if that article was the right place. I suppose someone could add a 64-bit Firefox section to the end of that article ... or else create a new article and link to it.

  9. Hello All,

Input has seen an increase in LastPass plugin problems with the release of 43. It sounds like it maybe users who sideloaded LastPass into Firefox. The solution is pretty easy and it's been documented it here:

Lastpass was disabled after updating Firefox

If you see any posts about this in the forums please pass along this KB article.

    Cheers, Patrick

To clarify, the LastPass Password Manager add-on is an extension, not a plugin. "Side-loading" is explained here: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/Distribution#Unlisted_add-ons P.S. This is an add-on signing issue. See https://blog.lastpass.com/2015/12/easily-enable-lastpass-in-firefox-43.html/

  11. A solution to stop the new search in the Awesome/address Bar (new in ff 43)

    browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete to false.

i see it in Ed's reply ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1099629#answer-819037 ), and it is the one.

    Thanks to the-edmeister

For this bug, only, release the 43.0.1 ? (nothing at this moment in my previous link)

EDIT December 19, one day later:

"Prepare to use SHA-256 signing certificate for Windows builds, to meet new Microsoft signing requirement (bug 1079858)"

the 43.0.1 breaks the New Tab Override (browser.newtab.url replacement) 2.1 add-on, definitely.

    thank you

  13. The latest version of New Tab Override isn't compatible with Firefox 43 as it uses the aboutnewtab-service that will be available in Firefox 44 and later. The Browser Console shows an error message about this. I noticed that the at the moment only the current Beta seems to be broken in regard to supporting the NewTabURL.override() as the file that defines this function isn't present.

    • resource:///modules/NewTabURL.jsm
    • resource:///modules/AboutNewTab.jsm

They have decided to re-add this file in Firefox 45, so the current DE and Nightly builds work with older extensions versions.

    • Bug 1204983 - Allow about: pages to load remote content

Install version 1.1 from the version page for Firefox 43 and older is the latest version isn't working.

  14. Since we have the 64-bit version of Firefox for Windows in release channel from this version, i'm paste Ed's reply in the next question . Very needful indeed.

"Installing Win64 Firefox won't overwrite a 32-bit version. Each '-bit' version installs to a different Program Files sub-folder than the other; 32-bit would be in a (x32) sub-folder."

"Yes you can have both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions installed together, but you can't run them simultaneously (IOW, side-by-side). They may have separate Program Files folders, but they would share the same Profile folder in AppData. The Profile becomes 'locked' when Firefox is running, so a 2nd process can't access the Profile when the 1st is using it. That limits multiple simultaneous Firefox executable processes from being run and stops the same Profile from being accessed by multiple Firefox processes. (Tells the user that "Firefox is already running".)"

i think it is useful for some of us (me also :-)) who don't known the correct process from 32 to 64-bit change.

    thanks to the-edmeister :-)

The developer seems that fix the problem with the new 2.2 version. cheers to Sören Hentzschel, pretty fast response indeed. :-)

The Firefox 42.0 Release had Win64 also, just was not so public by not being listed on www.mozilla.org/firefox/all as Win64 Fx 43.0 is.

  19. there will be an update to 43.0.2 presumably shipping tomorrow.

it contains yet another component needed to deal with the sha-1 code-signing deprecation for applications on windows that will be enforced by microsoft starting next year, it contains an update to the nss library (presumably a security fix), and a speculative fix for startup crashes a few nvidia firewall users are experiencing (bug 1233237) as a ride-along.
