I have Thunderbird installed for lots of users on windows 11. Recent updates caused Thunderbird to ask again to set as default, as is normal. However, if you ask it to set as default it brings up a UAC dialog. However, I have installed as a user, and am asking to change a user setting. UAC is inappropriate for the situation.

If I ask Thunderbird to uninstall is again pops up a UAC dialog even though it is not necessary and inappropriate.

Why is Thunderbird asking for more permissions?

I installed as the current user with default installer settings.

I always get: "newmsg Trojan:WIN/SuspiciousAttachmentScript.a" and "C:\Users\newb\AppData\Local\Temp Trojan:WIN/SuspiciousAttachmentScript.a" from Mcafee when I open Thunderbird. I'm only getting this in Thunderbird and suspect it's a false positive of some kind. It's still worrying and I'd like to eliminate this. This has been going on for a couple of months. I've run several cleaners and anti-virus programs on the system, but it still returns.

I have remote content blocked as a default. If I choose to view remote content **for an individual message**, there seems to be no way to reblock it, because the yellow bar with "options" disappears after you allow the remote content for that message. (Whoopsy! Changed my mind! Let's say I don't want the remote content to transmit that I opened the message a second time when I do so.)

Mail Content > Exceptions does not help in this case, since I allowed the remote content from a specific message, rather than allowing a wider permission, such as allowing remote content from a particular email address or website. Copying the message link into Mail Content > Exceptions (as suggested in an old post) doesn't work, either.

So it seems I am now stuck having remote content active each time I need to open that message?

Windows 11 Thunderbird = current at the time of this writing. (150.0.2 64bit)

Hi! I wonder how Thunderbird for Android works regarding security and privacy? If I use a Gmail account via Thunderbird, will I not miss the security features that Google provide, like warning for malicious/fraudulent emails? How can Thunderbird improve my privacy? I mean, Google will scan my emails when they are coming into or leaving the server anyways, I guess. And they will still let AI be trained on emails resting at the Gmail servers, so will there be any privacy benefits using Thunderbird? Please help me understand, because I have really liked Thunderbird for Windows and used it for many, many years when I had a Windows laptop as my main computer!

Hello, I use Thunderbird 140.10.0esr, installed as Flathub flatpak on Fedora Linux Kinoite. I just found out I have a folder in /home/<user>/.var/app/org.mozilla.Thunderbird/.thunderbird/1tniiwpw.default-release-1/storage/default/ called https+++www.googletagmanager.com. I wonder why I have this and what it does in the Thunderbird settings. It has something to do with Google's LLC, but I don't want to be part of that. I removed the folder completely and hope it won't come back, but I wonder. Who can tell me something more about this folder? Thanks.
