I'm under a network that blocks Gmail. I have a gmail on my Thunderbird Windows 11 client.

When I do not use a VPN, I cannot access gmail. I have the VPN on and off during the day.

From time to time ThunderBird shows me a notification "Connection to server imap.gmail.com timed out". This notification is almost useless to me as I expect that connections to gmail fails. Meanwhile, it's distracting.

I'd like to turn of this notification without turning off notifications for new email and calendar events.

Subject: Persistent Column and Folder Layout Issues — Not Being Saved Between Sessions

This is a follow-up to my previous support requests regarding two ongoing problems that significantly impact daily usability.

Column Settings I manage multiple accounts, and my preferred column layout is: Starred, Read Status, Attachment, Subject, From, and Date/Time. I do not use Threads, Correspondents, or Spam Status columns. Despite setting these preferences repeatedly, Thunderbird fails to retain them. Every day I must spend time reconfiguring columns across some or all of my accounts — the state varies unpredictably from one session to the next. This is a persistent, daily frustration that costs meaningful time. Most other major email clients save and reliably maintain column preferences. I'd expect Thunderbird to do the same.

Folder Panel Layout Two problems occur regularly when Thunderbird loads:

Folder order — Standard system folders (Inbox, Sent, Drafts, All Mail, Trash, Spam) should appear at the top of each account. Instead, Sent, All Mail, Trash, and/or Spam are frequently scattered among custom folders, with no apparent consistency.

Folder expansion — Most or all folders load in an expanded state, exposing every nested sub-folder regardless of whether they contain unread mail. This creates unnecessary visual clutter and requires manual collapsing each session.

Again, this behavior is uncommon in other widely-used email clients. Summary These are not one-time glitches — they recur daily and represent a significant usability gap. I'd appreciate confirmation that these are known issues being tracked, or guidance on a reliable fix. Reformatting the interface every morning is not a reasonable expectation for users.

Hello,

I'm looking to customize the colour of the message header row (the part highlighted in red; with a black background as shown in the screenshot) to #202020, to match the rest of the elements of the view. While I've successfully managed to customize other elements (code below), I need help with identifying what to specify for the message header row.

.tree-table { background-color: #202020 !important; }

treechildren { background-color: #202020 !important; }

#messagePane { background-color: #202020 !important; }

#messageHeader { background-color: #202020 !important; }

#msgHeaderView { background-color: #202020 !important; }

Thanks and cheers.

I have over 200 email accounts in Thunderbird, and I am getting constant pop-up error messages that say: "Не удалось открыть индексный файл для 'Входящие на [email]'. Возможно, произошла ошибка на диске или полный путь превышает допустимую длину."

I don't need help fixing the emails themselves, but I need to permanently disable these pop-up alert windows because I will soon have over 2000 accounts and I don't want 2000 errors popping up.

I am using the latest version of Thunderbird. I have tried looking for "about:config" or the "Navigation Toolbar" to change the settings to "false", but my interface is heavily customized and I cannot find the menu or the address bar. I need a step-by-step guide on how to disable these error alerts, preferably using the Windows Registry or a configuration file if the menu is hidden.

Some Fonts in different Thunderbird 'panes' are unreadable without zooming in. The {body} of a reply is very small (see font-size-body--Rev3-07-19-2026_01.jpg below) The image will show the cursor at top left of Body.

I did search here but nothing of this nature it. So here is my question:

QUESTION: Is there a way to edit a config file or the likes to set fonts to be responsive (like a web site is same in any size screen and compensates for size?

Thanks for the read,

Is there a way of changing this placement behavior or do I need to hack the source and if I do need to go hacking can someone point me in the direction of the file with this evil thing.

At some point recently, Thunderbird started ignoring the page range I specify in the print dialog box. I regularly have documents that are 4-5 pages, however I only need the first page printed. So in the print dialog, I set it to double sided printing, and to print only pages 1-2. In the past, it would only print a single (double sided) page...recently, it started printing all of the pages, and ignoring the setting I provided. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi,

I use AltSnap and its snap feature a lot because I have multiple 40" TVs as monitors.

That means I often deal with thunderbird floating windows rather than maximized, and I often resize it.

And I notice that my message list is always getting too small !

I realized this is because when you resize the thunderbird window vertically, the preview pane stays a constant size, but it is the message list that resizes.

Over time the message list gets squished out and not even one message is visible.

I think if the message list remained of a constant size during vertical resize and it was the preview pane that got resized along with the window, it would prevent that and the message list would always be, the size that you last set it.
