I have Thunderbird 102.2.0 (32-bit) on a 64 bit fully updated Windows 10 OS.

I have many inbox and local folders.

I have seen directions on updating to 64 bit. Are there any precautions I should take other than backing up the profile? Are there clean-up things I should do to the profile first. Some of the entries are many are years old.

After updating Thunderbird to version 102: a) All my open emails have disappeared b) my favorite folders have disappeared (that's easy to fix) c) there are new empty folders with strange names ("e78s4d3"). d) some filters no longer recognize folders

How can I recover bookmarks with open tabs?

By the way, I found that changing the setting: Start> Settings> Time and language> Region and language> Administrative language settings> Administrative> Language for non-Unicode programs> Change the system locale. to another language because Thunderbird crashes completely. The program cannot even find a folder with emails if the user has letters from alphabets other than English in his name. Just change the language, restart your computer and Thunderbird doesn't work.

(I didn't think Thunderbird was using the settings for non-Unicode programs)

Address book empty after update to v91 - mab -> sqlite problem?

Hi,

I had to update from an older version of TB to the latest due to the gmail security changes. I had an security/authentication issue that was brilliantly solved by a contributor here.

I have now realised that the update caused another problem ... my address book is empty. I have been doing much searching and reading about this and it seems that the problem is that there was a failure to convert the old .mab address file to the new .sqlite address file that the newer TB version uses. What I could not really find is the definitive answer.

I do not have any .mab.bak files in my profile folder. I have:

  • abook.mab(44KB and filled with addresses)
  • abook.sqlite (256KB and filled with zeros)
  • history.mab (77KB and filled with addresses)
  • history.sqlite (256KB and filled with zeros)

From what I read, the option open to me is to downgrade TB (all the others appear to rely on the .mab.bak files), export the address book, upgrade TB again and then import the exported address book. What I'm hoping is that someone here know a simpler way in which I can get the new TB to convert or "see" the old .mab file.

Many thanks.

I am running Thunderbird v 102 on a Linux powered laptop. My old laptop is similar also running v. 102. I have tried to follow directions for exporting and importing my address book. There appears to be several "profiles" (named similar to: acva9su7.default ?) and I'm not sure the correct one is being selected to be exported. I have not yet been able to make export/import work. I have read that the address book data is stored in a file named abook.sqlite and that all that is needed is to copy this file to the new system. However, again, how do I know which profile to look in for this file. When searching around, I sometimes find similar file names such as "abook.v3.sqlite". I have tried copying some of those files, but I'm not sure where to put them and I have not yet found the proper place to make it work. Thanks

My wife's Thunderbird application seems stalled . All I can see is the blue rotating circle. No emails after August 30 2022 will download . And the upper left hand corner has a period that is continually moving right to left and back again. She set up the email yesterday because her android phone was easier to use (Har, har). Gmails server apparently downloaded 13, 598 emails yesterday (8-30) and hasn't downloaded any since that date.. What's going on. She's attempting to renew her Green card and I'm more that a little concerned.

/edit: moved thread from Firefox to Thunderbird section.

Previously I raised a question where I had a regular message from TB about failure to update and advising me to go to website to download 91.10.0 and then run it to install.

I though I had solved it but....

Thunderbird has automatically updated itself to 102.0.2 (64 bit) without my intervention - despite the release notes saying it is only offered as a direct download and not an upgrade. It has since updated itself to currently 102.0.3 However, TB reminds me every day with a message stating that it cannot do an update and wants me to visit the TB site and download. I am on the release update channel.

I assume some software switch is stuck and saying that there is an update when there isn't and posting the reminder. Is there some way of clearing this? I have cleaned the cache several times and clean installed the previous [91.10 version?] twice.

I just got a new computer. I've imported my address books, but autocomplete does not function, and a search of the address book returns nothing. It's as if Thunderbird thinks the address book is empty. I've tried importing in different file types, with no difference. Everything was imported to Personal Address Book, and that is selected in Settings. I'm using Ver 102.1.0. I have no add-ons. I've tried in Safe Mode, and it still doesn't work.

I am on windows 10. My Thunderbird was upgraded automatically from 91.11.0 to 102.0. I've lost all my emails, folders, accounts, and profiles, including Giganews (usenet). I tried re-installing TB 91.11.0 and restoring my profile folder, but I still cannot access my old folders, accounts, or profiles.

What did I do wrong? Is there any way to get back to a working Thunderbird? I have numerous backups of my old Thunderbird profile folder.

Team,

I recently purchased a new PC. on the new pc. On the old PC I turned disabled sync server on connection and added the 3 new email accounts as IMAP. One account folder by folder i drag and dropped from the Pop Account to the IMAP account. However on many of the IMAP accounts the folder structure was changed and sub-folders. I also received some errors during the drag and drop about not being able to complete the request or corrupted. Now I have some folder missing in both the POP and IMAP folders. Is there and way to repair the local POP profiles and see if anything got deleted or hidden due to a potentially corrupted .eml.

Really struggling here so an help is greatly appreciated.
