Help please I want to use "Personal Backup" program to save a backup of data needed to restore thenderbird Using tools>help>trouble shooting>application basics>profile>open folder gives 5 files all ending in .default 3 are 1 KB - can these be deleted? 2 have more folders each with many folders and files- are they both needed? which do I use for backing up with "Personal backup" program? the "Personal Backup" program finds 2 possble profiles defaultuser and default_user, which do I need? I am on the "release update channel"

I tried the Toolbar fixes in this forum and got the menu to show up, thank you. (Any menu in Compose mode had disappeared. Actually, both Firefox and Thunderbird icons on desktop and Taskbar had disappeared as well, and I had to reinstate shortcuts. This may or may not be pertinent.)

But when I try to add "Send" to the menu, using customize, the "Send" icon is nowhere to be found as an option, so I cannot add it to the Toolbar in Composition mode. "Send" is grayed out in all bold textmenus. If I use Ctrl-Enter, message does get sent. Using Windows 10, still. Perhaps this is an upgrade issue?

Believe my T-bird account has somehow been corrupted. Takes forever to load on PC and always puts new emails in Trash folder. Often does not accept correct password. If I save / backup PROFILE, uninstall T-Bird and delete any Thunderbird folders on PC, if I restore per backup, will I be restoring the corrupted app. Don't want to loose email addresses, thousands of emails and email folder structure. Will a restore work? Thank you. Greg D

PS Version of T-Bird on laptop still puts all new email in Trash, but loads much more quickly, etc.

There are 2407 emails in my simple GM account a few with always Adobe PDF legal document attachments. I am new to Thunderbird so that may be a contributor but it looks very straight forward. I am unable to send emails (but can receive). When I try to send an email with an attachment, I get the pop up that states "Login to server smtp.(companyemail).com with username icclabcalibrations@(companyemail).com failed". Once I hit "retry" twice, another message pops up that says "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.(companyemail).com timed out. Try again." Once I try again, a third message pops up saying "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: ...authentication rejected. Please verify that your email address is correct". I have made sure to check that the connection security settings are correct as well as the outgoing server settings. I have also edited my email and replaced it with "(companyemail)" for privacy reasons.

This behavior is annoying, usually I first delete all attachments and then reply but message position is in the next message.

This behavior is for example for version 140.7.1esr and 140.8.1esr.

102.15.1 work fine.

In our organization we have moved from an on-premise mail server to M365. We've also added our new EWS-based accounts to Thunderbird. Since there are a large number of users with a significant amount of older mails they want to have access to, they have been asking how they could upload them to EWS now.

We've noticed that either copying or moving messages from local folders to an EWS folder fails after some time. Has anyone encountered this?

The "Delete" on the context menu is grey and cannot be selected. How do I permantely remove "Personal Address Book" from the list of contacts?

For example, my email (madison.l@valleyhha.com) does not allow me to send messages without an error popping up (Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent) due to network or file access errors. You can retry or save the message locally to Local Folders/Sent-madison.l@valleyhha.com.)

This goes for my entire staff of 20 people. Same error, also all my unread messaged in my inbox have now disappeared. Not only that but we are also not receiving any new emails either

Thunderbird import not allowing to "match names" on import from a CSV file.

Yes this is the problem when working with Thunderbird’s import of a CSV file, the Match field names option only is allowed on the first attempt. That told me that the source fields and first Record columns did not have useful fields to even try to Match field names. So I went and edited the CSV file to try to get at the Match Field names option but it was not available no matter what I fix or tried. So to me the problem is with Thunderbird’s “ surmising that since I was given the Match field Names screen that I Thunderbird never gives the Match Field names on subsequent attempt. Thunderbird needs to give the Match field Names screen as an option on every attempt not just the 1st attempt.

The below screen was given to me by one of the consultant’s attempt. And you can see that he had a CSV file with the THUNDERBIRD’s preferred CSV options!!! And it did use the Match Fields Option.

Attached screenshots is not possible at this time.

I have defined about 45 simple filters to get rid of spam. They are all based on keywords found in subject or sender.

All of them are enabled and set this way :

Apply filter when : _ Manually Run X Getting New Mail ( Filter before Junk Classification ) _ Archiving _ After sending _ Periodically, every 10 minutes.

Perform these actions : 1. Set Junk Status to : Junk 2. Move Message to : "super-junk" folder 3. Mark As Read

See example in attached image.

PROBLEM : They do not run automatically when new emails are received. But if I run each of them manually, they work.

QUESTION : What is wrong ?
