I have been using Thunderbird to access my comcast emails. I never had a problem with it. However, this afternoon, just out of the blue Thunderbird cannot download my emails, the following message popped up: "Login to server mail.comcast.net with username xxxxxxx failed." Then Thunderbird asks for a new password. When I enter the still correct password, it displays the same error message. I did not change anything in the settings before this error message popped up. I tried ChatGPT to get some answers, but whatever I changed it had no effect. I am attaching a screenshot of the server settings (I have of course removed my username). I would be grateful for any advice as to how to fix the issue. Thanking you.

Hi,

I am trying to remove a large number of e-mails from my Inbox. The standard advice says to hold down Ctrl or Shift and select e-mails, then right click, and choose rubbish bin symbol to delete. The advice says you will get a confirmation message, but that doesn't happen. Only the e-mail right clicked on actually deletes; all the rest stay put.

I have tried deleting the trash file to force it to recreate. I have tried updating Thunderbird, but I'm already on version 145.0. I use gmail.

Does anyone know of a working method for doing multiple deletions?

I'm just getting set up with Thunderbird. I used to use Postbox, and imported my Postbox profile into Thunderbird, which overall worked great – it got all my local email folders, and brought in my Apple email account, and so forth. The only wrinkle I've noticed so far is that it also created an account named "server7.invalid" that I can't delete. If I go to Account Settings, for "server7.invalid" it states "The following is a special account. There are no identities associated with it." The only items underneath it are "Spam Settings" and "Disk Space". There is no red Delete button for it, the way there is for my two real (IMAP) email accounts. Viewed on the Mail tab, it appears to contain only "Trash" and "Outbox", and both of those are empty. This weird invalid account doesn't seem to be doing any harm, but of course it is ugly and I just want it to go away. Help?

I have 4 accounts in Thunderbird, each with an Inbox. Thunderbird shows the blue 'inbox' icon next to these accounts in their respective account folders, but only two of them show up in the "Unified Folders" inbox. I don't see any way to add the other two inboxes to the Unified Folders inbox.

It's possible I accidentally removed the two missing inboxes, but I am not sure how I could have done that. Is it possible to add them back in?

Comcast required me to change the password for my secondary Thunderbird email account. Now secondary Thunderbird account password doesn't work. It is my understanding that my secondary Thunderbird password has to match the one on Comcast. I have tried numerous times to try to change it and have not been successful. I have tried to follow the instructions I have found but instructions don't seem to work. Apparently I am doing something wrong. Would appreciate your help.

Earlier this autumn my mail provider Telia changed mail platform, and I have problem that synching of Inbox is not working properly after that Thunderbird has been running for some time. Other folders are synched if I click on that folder. Then after some time time the Inbox is updated automatically again. Sometimes after a few hours, sometimes next morning. If I restart Thunderbird it work again for some time. Or if I change the "Connection security" field it also starts working for some time.

Is there somewhere some log to see why the synching stops?

There were problems on the email server. As an emergency solution, a new access was created by the service provider for this email address. However, this does not contain the old emails. Unfortunately, I have already synchronized and no longer see all the old emails. However, I have now seen in the search function that I can still see the old emails in Thunderbird, but I cannot open them. You can see in the attachment that i can see emails when searching. But if i want to see one of the items ther ist the information "Keine Nachricht gefunden". How can I access these emails?

This follows on from two questions I posted earlier - which I can't find again.

I hoped that by removing Thunderbird and then installing it again, I could set it up so that it continued to work without, as it did last time, seeming to be fine then saying the password didn't match the server (which wasn't the one I'd used). But Thunderbird remembered everything so re-installing didn't help. But I tried using the app password I'd generated for the last attempt - and that worked. It remains to be seem if it will when I open Thunderbird again . . .

Dear Community,

I have installed Thunderbird on a new system and imported my mailbox and archives from my old Mac (both running macOS). I am currently using macOS Monterey 12.7.6 and Thunderbird 40.5.0 ESR (64-bit).

All messages—whether imported or newly received—both in the Inbox and in archives are showing the month as April (i.e., xx/4/xx). This issue also appears in the email body when replying or forwarding messages. Please note that the day and year are correct, only the month appears incorrectly as “4” (April)on all messages.

Messages in the imported local folder archives display the correct dates. I have email folders going back to 2006, and I would greatly appreciate your guidance to resolve this issue.

I'm not able to log into yahoo e-mail via Linux Firefox (145.0 (64-Bit)): The error message is "We were unable to log you in. Please try again from another device." I can log in with Chrome (Linux and Windows) and Firefox (Windows). My issue is to switch from POP3 to IMAP in Thunderbird. There the same error message occurs.

Great time saver, but for heaven's sake you bring up the Thunderbird anyway. Come on ! ! ! ? The short cut is so we don't have to bring it up. My Tags window & folder [View, Folders, Tags] layout stopped properly displaying all my items with the appropriate "tag" set in the past few updates to T'bird. I recently switched to version 140.4.0esr but the problem existed before that in 140.2.1 as well. Is there any way to force a "rebuild" of the Tags window so that all my tagged items show in their appropriate categories, with appropriate statuses [read/unread, etc]? Otherwise, the Tag feature is no longer useful.

All of our email goes through Proofpoint. It has a feature that redirects all links to their URL Defense before allowing it to continue to the original destination. However, when the link is typed out in the email, Thunderbird pops up with the message that there is a Link Mismatch Detected and it lets the user go to the actual link instead of forcing it through the Proofpoint URL Defense. I need to disable that feature or create an exception for anything that redirects to Proofpoints URL.

Lorsque je tente d'imprimer, mon imprimante Brother s'affiche momentanément, puis un message d'erreur apparaît indiquant "L'imprimante choisie est introuvable". J'ai supprimé mon profil de Thunderbird pour paramétrer à nouveau le logiciel avec mon compte de messagerie et j'ai réinstallé proprement mon imprimante Brother. Je précise que je peux imprimer en dehors de Thunderbird. Est-ce que vous auriez une solution à me proposer ? Ci-joint, une capture d'écran du message d'erreur. Cordialement. Cyril.
