I installed Firefox on a fresh Win 11 install, and most of the the favicons are still generic on the Home Page several days later. Facebook, Ebay and Youtube are the only ones that appear consistently, sometimes other will display, but then be gone again the next time the app is launched. All other links just have the generic letter icons.

I tried deleting the 3 favicon files in the Profiles folder, but it did nothing. I've tried manually re-adding the links, still nothing. I removed the "S" from "https;//" and still nothing. The favicons all show up on my other machines which use Firefox on the same user account, so it is not a problem with the websites themselves.

Not sure if its related, but upon installing Firefox on this machine, it made Firefox on my Mac desktop absolutely freak out. I had to make a significant number of changes over the course of hours to fix everything, so many relating to favicons alone that I don't know what actually fixed it.

What else can I do to try and get these working? Why does Firefox apparently struggle with this particular feature across multiple OSes?

Thanks.

I used a translator, so the names of the functions may not match.

I want the "start page" or the new firefox tab to contain only the sites that I have pinned, as it happens in any chromium browser.

I don't need junk offers from the browser history to be on the new tab in addition to the sites I've pinned.

I went to settings > start > Firefox Home Page Content

And out of everything, I have a check mark only for "shortcuts", sponsored shortcuts are disabled. BUT the description of the shortcuts function says "Saved or visited sites" That is, I can't just turn off the "suggestions"

Where did the tags or shortcuts go? i had them and they were a quick way for me to get into the programs i need: Weather 13, Weather.com, Lawrence Bibliocommons, Lumosity login, analog word finder. they were on the top of the first page when i opened FireFox and i used them a lot. now they're gone and i need them back. Otherwise i have to do a search for each of them individually.

There are three rows of icons on the home page with my most frequently used sites. It has always been relatively stable, minor changes occasionally as I go to different sites. Now it has removed most of the sites I use but put in sites I may have visited once or twice in the past. When I dismiss them, they go away but my regular sites don't come back, I get more esoteric sites that I don't use and still don't get my most used sites back. I am not sure of the proper terminology for any of this, please excuse me for that. I don't want to delete them, just get back the sites I visit every day. Thank you. Ann DIngee

I've noticed on several of my pc's running win10 & win11 the AP news shortcut has been added to the new tab page when I have not gone to the AP News site on either PC. If I have "sponsored shortcuts" off and I don't use AP news ever, how did it end up on my shortcuts?

Previously, the shortcuts displayed on new tabs quite sensibly displayed the sites that I accessed the most from new tabs. The list was fairly stable, since I'm only normally accessing a few sites this way.

Today, the behavior of these shortcuts changed significantly, showing sites I visit much less frequently, and the shortcuts that are displayed also change frequently, instead of remaining stable as they did previously. I'm currently on version 141.0, but it's possible this behavior changed in an earlier version and I didn't notice until now.

Is there a way to revert to the previous behavior?

I had my startup page EXACTLY as I wished with two rows of most often used links to websites. While trying to find a solution to "page jumping" I use Help; "troubleshooting mode" and selected "Restart Firefox in Troubleshooting Mode". It did not solve the page jumping issue but did remove MY customized startup page and I do not how to get it back. I also used "Exit" and restarted Firefox but Firefox set my page to the default start page.

How do I get back to MY old startup page?

This is but one frustrating experience setting up MY computer to perform as I wish ... the computer culture has become "user unfriendly" .... what was once simple is now "too highly geek-ed".

Thanks in advance for your effort in solving yet another Firefox rabbit-hole problem.

When I use Firefox it removes shortcuts from my home screen (starting from the right) and replaces them with sites that I visit, even if I visit them only once.

I have been to settings, Recent Activity is turned off, Rows are set to 2, and the only other option is Shortcuts > Sites you save or visit.

I don't want Firefox to automatically add visited sites to my shortcuts and remove my saved sites.

This happens often. I start Firefox, and on the home page is a list of articles linked to several different publications. So I'm generally already on a mission, but I think "I'll come back to that article later", and I go off to do what I logged in to do. And when I get back to the article a few minutes or hours later, it's gone! There is a new set of articles. The articles have all refreshed, and the one I wanted to read is gone. So can I see back to what that was? Or some other way to retrieve that article I never got to read before it went away?

Don't know how to describe the issue. I leave the computer on all night. In the morning, when I move the mouse to activate the screen, there is a large, 3-panel image with links to various websites. Today's panels are titled "Daily Wonder," "Hats Off to the Class of '25," and "Markets." A click on any of these panels takes me to a website. No idea how these panels are produced or by whom. If I try to take a screenshot, the images disappear and my normal home screen is shown. I do not recognize anything in the Task Manager that might explain this. Not sure if this is a Windows issue or a Firefox issue. Perhaps another user can ask me questions that will lead to more information.

Windows 10 version 22H2, OS Build 19045.5854.

Thanks, Cloverdavid
