I have been using Firefox for awhile now and something weird is happening. I can't close tabs by clicking on the 'x' on the tab. I also can't use the back arrow and the refresh button. I can right click and close tabs that way and the bookmark bar works. The problem seems confined to the top two bars. Thank you.

What's wrong with the new release?

Today i decided try the new firefox(140) since it's going to be ESR, but i'm getting hot-fan from a couple of tabs (particularly video streams). Second it's slower and seems to have 4second delay for shutdown..

The laptop is running linux mint with intel i5 (11th), tigerlake (iris xe) gpu. It might not be newest, but it shouldn't have a problem with regular web browsing.

Is it a bug? like it's not maxing my ram or cpu during use.

When I start Firefox without any internet, i.e. Airplane mode, the browser starts up pretty quickly. However when I connect to internet, either via WiFi or LAN, the startup time increases dramatically. This means that Firefox is connecting to the internet, waiting for some server to respond and then finish the launching of the browser. I have been able to figure out that Firefox connects to the following URLs when it launches.

  1. cdn.statically.io
  2. img-getpocket.cdn.mozilla.net
  3. ublockorigin.github.io
  4. aus5.mozilla.org
  5. content-signature-2.cdn.mozilla.net

Please note that this is not the complete list, it is just what I have been able to figure out. There might be other URLs that Firefox connects too, which I am not aware off.

So my questions are as follows 1) How do I come to know all the URLs Firefox is connecting too, when it launches? 2) How can I check how much time does the server take to respond back to Firefox? 3) Is there a way that to stop the connection between these servers and Firefox? For example, pockets is getting shut down and I do not use pockets. So I maybe the connection to img-getpocket.cdn.mozilla.net can be terminated or stopped. OR maybe the connection to content-signature-2.cdn.mozilla.net can be asychronous and need not hold up the browser loading and so on

Constantly getting the following messages - "Not Responding." "This application is not responding. The program may respond if you wait. Do you want to end this process?" I am on my email or reading an article on my email and it goes blank. Also, I get "Restore session or start new session." The only way I can get to start my computer ( getting the password box ) is if I do Control Alt Delete many times.

Very Frustrating indeed!

There is a bug which was reported 3 month ago https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1959157. It appeared out of nowhere and I don't even know if it was fixed since then. But it is bugging me a lot, no pun intended. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 120Hz display with dynamic refresh rate enabled in the Windows settings (48Hz-120Hz). With dynamic refresh rate enabled Firefox locks browsing at 60Hz. With dynamic refresh rate disabled Firefox shows all websites at 120Hz. Due to battery efficiency reasons I would like to use dynamic refresh rate but still use Firefox with 120Hz across all websites. Is there a hidden setting which I have missed? Thanks!

Firefox quite often will remove, replace, add, or layer text as I use it. It has been doing this since I first downloaded it, and I haven't had it for long. (I will say that it isn't the first program I've seen do this. the only other program I've seen do this is Zotero.) I'm not doing anything weird with it, it just happens as I use it. Some of the screenshots I've submitted are of what I'm literally typing right now.

I've tried using troubleshoot mode, but it works just fine when I'm using troubleshoot mode, so I can't appropriately use that mode.

This has been an issue that I've been having for the past month and have been unable to find a proper fix to it.

While Firefox opens normally, none of the previous windows show up on screen. Even though I can still technically interact such as opening new tabs in it and click through tabs with Firefox View. Once I try to pull them up none of them show on the monitor nor can be interacted with further. I have both uninstall and reinstall Firefox and deleted/rename the xulstore.json, but neither of them fix the problem The only temporary solution I've found is through refreshing Firefox through about:support, even then it only takes a couple days to suddenly have the problem come back all over again.

For added info I'm using a 2019 iMac with 15.2 OS.

Sometimes, when another application displays a window in the same display area as the Firefox browser window, Firefox will reassert itself as the front-most focused window. I can try clicking on the other app in the dock, or use Exposé to re-select the other app, but Firefox will just reassert itself again. I have to minimize Firefox in order to interact with the other app that's being covered.

Firefox is not in full-screen mode, just in regular window mode.

I successfully built Firefox v135 from source for the RISC-V architecture and created a .deb package. After installing the package, Firefox launches correctly, but performance is significantly degraded—especially during video playback, where it becomes very laggy.

Upon inspecting about:support, I noticed that under the "Compositing" section, it shows WebRender (software), and CPU usage is extremely high. Additionally, WebGL 1 and WebGL 2 are not available, despite the presence of a dedicated GPU Hardware and its driver.

During the build process, Firefox required LLVM v14 as a dependency. It appears that this setup defaults to using LLVMpipe, which results in software rendering and prevents the OpenGLES driver from being utilized, leading to the fallback to software WebRender.

In contrast, I tested another .deb package of Firefox built specifically for the VisionFive2 (JH7110) board. In that case, the "Compositing" section correctly shows WebRender (without the "software" tag), and both WebGL 1 and WebGL 2 are available, indicating proper GPU Hardware acceleration.

Could anyone guide me on how to enable hardware-accelerated WebRender and ensure that Firefox uses the GPU instead of falling back to software rendering?

Please find the "about:support" page in the attached Troubleshooting Information.xhtml file. Kindly do let us know if there's any further information needed.

Thanks in advance, Saiteja

Several weeks ago Firefox worked normally for me. I left for most of the day and when I got home Firefox no longer worked at all. Everything on my home page was gone and when I typed in websites - such as my e-mail program or Facebook, nothing ever came up. I'm not super browser savvy, but I opened the menu and under help was "trouble shooting mode". I didn't know what that was but figured nothing much more could go wrong with Firefox, so I chose that. I had to rebuild the websites I had in a row on the middle of the page. I didn't lose bookmarks, but everything else was different. So I left it that way.

Earlier today, Firefox wanted me to do another update. I thought maybe by agreeing to that, things might return to normal. Noooooooo. It's no better whatever. Now I don't know how to get out of troubleshooting mode to know if anything will work normally again.

I am seriously considering switching browsers, but I have a LOT of stuff bookmarked and that would be very intensive to build all those book marks in another browser.

I've had this issue for years, but it was always something I could live with. The Issue would only appear once every week or so. However, recently the issue seems basically happen on a daily basis.

After Firefox has been running for some time and there's a few other tabs open, The YouTube UI will periodically become completely unresponsive.

Just moving the cursor on top of Youtube will cause 100% + CPU in the Firefox task manager and the page is entirely unresponsive during that time (except video playback)...

This issue has persisted through reinstalls, new profiles and is also present without extensions.

This is a performance Profile of the Issue: https://share.firefox.dev/4kNlhKD

Any tips on how to maybe diagnose this are very much appreciated!
