I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro with the M5 chip. I am a Firefox user for many years as I prefer it to Safari or Chrome. I noticed that some of the bookmark links are having issues loading. There is a little dot that moves back and forth L to R next to the site name in the toolbar [see screenshot]. Some of the pages do not load and just stay blank. I reached out to Apple and they recommended to reach out to Firefox re updates as perhaps this issue may be addressed.

Please advise.

Thank... Janice Engel

Pages won't load, including the firefox home page, or the autoupdate URL. My home page news stories load no images.

The Firefox .dmg downloaded and installed over previous version. Firefox failed to load any pages. Firefox deleted from Applications folder and moved to Trash. The Firefox installation file downloaded again. Firefox failed again.

This is a bug report. The browser does not function.

Troubleshooting Information would have been added, but it included personal information. Sorry. "userAgent": "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:146.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/146.0" Specifically, Firefox/146.0.1 (64-bit)

You can create custom prompts in about:config (search for browser.ml.chat.prompt), so you can use something like {"label":"Custom prompt","value":"%selection%"}. This %selection% is the text on the page that is currently selected. When you select something and click the chatbot popup button that appears and choose your custom prompt, it sends to the chatbot the string "<selection>the selected text</selection>". So instead of just returning the actual text, it adds the <selection> tag around it.

There are two problems with this: 1. it's ugly, and 2. the chatbot doesn't ignore it, sometimes changing the response because of the "<selected>" tag.

How to remove this tag so that what is sent is only the "the selected text" string with no tag?

Every few Google searches, I get an unsual traffic message with a captcha to prove I'm human. This only happens with Google searches and I don't have the same issue on Chrome or Safari (I'm on a Mac). This only began about two months ago.

It's driving me nuts. I love so many things about Firefox, but this has been going on for months, and I'm about to give up. I found some "solutions" about privacy settings, but none of them have worked so far. I have changed IpV6 settings, privacy settings in about:config, and proxy settings in Firefox. Nothing has stopped it.

This only happens when I search on Google. It seems clear to me that Google and Firefox are not playing well together.

Is anybody else still experiencing this? Has anyone found a solution other than what I've noted above?

I have noticed for quite a long time (>1 year) that even though I have this setting correctly enabled to delete cookies and cache when closing the browser, when I reopen the browser, even after a computer restart, the data is still there. I have to manually direct the browser to delete these items for it to ever get rid of them.

I have spent countless hours looking at the same settings, all correctly enabled, yet this feature just will not work. I am fully current with the latest updates for the browser and computer. I have checked, and double checked to make sure I don't have anything listed in the 'exceptions' list. It is, and always has been empty. Using Win11 Pro desktop, current version of FF is 146.0.1 (64-bit) as I write this.

Seriously, what is going on? I even switched to another browser for a while and that browser's settings worked just fine and deleted all cookies and cache when closing.
