I upgraded to TB 102.0 today. After I checked my settings and updated my plugins, it seemed to be working fine. However, later in the day I noticed a message that TB was downloading about 880 messages in my main inbox. Of course, there are not nearly that many new messages. I searched and did not notice any new emails in the listing. However, I found that two recent messages had been corrupted in some way. I enclosed an image. When I open the message, there is not even the normal header with the different choices. There is just what appears to be a bunch of information that has been mushed together in place of this email. I found two emails like that. I right clicked on the two, and deleted the corrupted messages. Then I compacted files. For a moment, things seemed OK. Some other emails near those that would not display worked again. However, shortly after I did another compact folders, I got the same message -- downloading the same 880 emails. Now I have two new messages corrupted.

Please help! I have no idea how to stop this corruption. This account is hosted on Google Workspace. I have it set to sync only the last 90 days of messages.

I just upgraded to 78.3.2, and the message list panel now has significantly more spacing, less denstiy. There is more whitespace between lines. And there does not appear to be any option to reset this back to the previous compact view?

EDIT: Adding a note about an additional issue with the message list panel that is discussed in this thread... Prior to v78.3.2, a message/line in the message list pane would not become highlighted until I *clicked* on it. Now, whenever I just pass my mouse over the list, the message under the mouse becomes highlighted (and the last message(s) *selected* also remains highlighted). This results in two or more non-adjacent messages being highlighted in the same way at the same time. This is a poor usability experience and dangerous design that has caused me to perform operations on unintended messages multiple times, even nearly accidentally deleting messages. This usability degradation creates a risk of data loss.

I've used Thunderbird for years. After the most recent update in late July 2020 (78.0.1), Thunderbird no longer works. It will not download new mail. It does connect to the IMAP server but then gets to "checking mail server capabilities" and hangs with the spinning circle indefinitely.

I have not done anything to Thunderbird, I just let it install the update. I did not install updates to any other program on my PC. I'm running Windows 10 on a laptop that is about 4 months old. Thunderbird worked absolutely fine before the 78 update.

I am not experiencing any connection issues or problems with any other running programs.

I have tried the following fixes already: 1. Checking my account configuration and confirming it is correct with my email provider. I have the correct ports listed and correct server names. 2. Changing the timeout setting from 100 to 2000. 3. I am able to access my email on my provider's Web interface so this isn't a password issue. There is no CAPTCHA required either. 4. I checked my anti-virus/anti-malware program (Kapersky). Thunderbird and Mozilla are both listed in the "allowed apps" list. I tried removing them both and re-adding, as well as searching for other variations of Mozilla/Thunderbird to add. I also tried Kapersky's "refresh" function. 5. I tried restarting my computer. 6. I tried rebooting my wireless Internet connection. 7. I tried using Thunderbird's "start in safe mode with apps disabled" function. 8. I tried re-installing 78. 9. I tried clearing caches and cleaning with CC Cleaner.

Nothing has worked. Something in the 78.0.1 update has messed things up. Thank you for looking into this.

Thunderbird 78.2.2 very slow for 10 minutes after startup. Cpu hog when started online (15-20% CPU and flashes of 'Not responding' but nothing to download) but runs normally when started offline and then switched to online. (Win10, 3 imap and one pop3)

Hello, My Thunderbird 32bit installation upon Microsoft 10 64bit installation just upgraded itself to 7.2.2 and produced a severe performance problem after initial startup. The response to attempts to navigate through the folders is very slow. The Microsoft Task Manager shows that Thunderbird is constantly busy 15-20% Cpu usage and flashes of 'Not responding' although the program has nothing to download.

There 4 accounts configured (3 imap and one pop3) and there are lots of folders with stored emails. There is one Lightening calendar configured.

The performance issue continues for about 10 minutes and then disappears so the system becomes as responsive as it was before the upgrade i.e. instantaneous.

I cannot tell you what release I was on before the upgrade. Any suggestions Patrick

This happens far too often, in the course of 9 months or more frequently. What is going on Firefox? v88.0.1 Windows 10

Constant script errors that freeze whatever program I am in, regardless of the option I choose - the popup no longer gives me a WAIT or STOP IT. The box comes up that says DON'T ask me about this again.

I do not want to copy passwords, more than anything, should I create a new profile. I do not want to deal with replacing or losing the file. When I attempted to load two other profiles over the last two days, both times FF crashed. I gave up.

I am NOW in Safe Mode and without errors, and it's hard to know which app is causing the problem.

Is there a new addon that will back up Firefox these days?

Suggestions? Seriously, FF seems to be a whole lot more trouble these days than she is worth.

Everything was working fine in Thunderbird for a LONG time. A few minutes ago I opened it and instead of opening normally it opened to a page called 'account setup'. There was another tab called 'home' that had buttons for email, calendar, address book, etc. Clicking email took me to the account setup page again.

HOW DO I GET IT BACK TO NORMAL?????

This is basically a copy of what I put in the Ubuntu forum. The problem is the same, no matter where I post it.

Originally I was using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

I thought it would be good to update to GG (20.10) though I did briefly try FF (20.04).

As the install was done on an existing 18.04 version things remained the same for programs, book marks, etc.

Ok, now the crunch: I USE Firefox ""A LOT"". When it loads, there are...... 8 x 6 windows of FireFox and each of those have anywhere from one to ""THIRTY"" tabs loading.

Believe me: ""It worked!!""

I could use it, also run other tasks as well - though a VM was pushing it with the RAM. But the entire machine worked.

Now, I am lucky if FireFox loads at all. Let alone let me browse.

When it loads some of the window's tops are flashing. A screen shot does not really show this. (I tried)

All that has changed is the O/S from 18.04 and Firefox from (what ever it was) to 83.0

I don't want this to be a finger pointing exercise between Mozilla and Ubuntu. I would prefer it is helpful to all.

What have I tried? I've tried starting FireFox with all addons disabled. Still happens.

I am going to try to remember to (next time) launch FireFox from a Terminal and pipe the output to a file to look for things.

The machine I am using has shown it is well up to being able to have this running. I have had it working for a few years like this.

This post is (for now) to establish there is a problem. I will post more information when I get it, rather than waiting to get it then post, as I feel there are a lot of people who have very similar problems and I want it known: ""You are not alone!""


Now a bit of extra stuff.

Other things which are weird: When I am watching stuff - youtube for example - the playback is/WAS jerky. I hadn't touched anything in the settings.

After digging around, I discovered that I had to turn ""OFF"" the hardware acceleration for the graphics. Question: How did it get turned on? (Semi rhetorical)

I have a lot of local pages I open with passwords. When I load them the CPU load goes through the roof and nearly invariably the program just exits. No crash report.

Which is a good 50% of how it happens. The other 50% is the machine just locks up and I have to power it down.

The latest version of Thunderbird (91.1.2 (64-bit)) installed yesterday. Before the installation I was able to send emails on all my accounts. After the installation I cannot send emails on any of the accounts.

When I reply to an email, the send button is greyed out. When I make a new email and click on send nothing happens. I can still receive emails. There are no messages that I am doing anything wrong.

I have four separate accounts, each with their own SMTP server. Send doesn't work on any of them. My OS is Windows 10 and is up to date. My antivirus is McAfee LiveSafe (16.0) and it is up to date.

I have to say that this has been the most frustrating issue that I have been unable to find any kind of help with.

I am running W7 on this laptop (I do not know more than that), even W10 on my desktop, both with the most updated version of mozilla.

I have removed the adobe flash player, and now I cannot get any videos to play, like on CNN and other various sites. I just get the spinning wheel of nothing. It seems that only you tube is working, barely.

Am I missing something, is this open html5 crap supposed to just take over and everything will be okay.

Maybe someone, somewhere can post a layman's explanation on what is going on. If there are issues, how to fix them. I don't need anymore information telling me how to remove because it is dead. What I need is what is replacing it, how does it work, and where and what can I do to fix issues.

Searching for help here on this subject is just tedious. I get over 3000 replies, or what ever they are called here, but just nothing on an explanation of what is changed and or how it works, more like doesn't work.

What do I need to do in order to be able to watch/play videos online.

Any help would be very, very much appreciated.

When typing comments on a web blog, after the spacebar is used, the first letter of the next word eliminates the previously typed space. So what I end up with is all words in a sentence running together. Tried other browsers and they work fine. Changed keyboard as well no joy. Typing is normal in applications like adobe, word, etc..... Only happens during Firefox use......... Uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, also no help..... How do I fix ?

No suggested fix works. Reinstalling does not help, toggling DRM application does not help. It was obviously the update (at least for users on 78.10.0esr with OS X 10.9.5) that did it. Is there some way to get this registered as a bug?

I did an upgrade yesterday from 91 to 102. This morning, I get a few issues. Some email messages are blank. Some have a lot of header and content code displaying that is not related to the email I am opening but from a different email message. Some emails have no HTML content but others are fine.

On my cellular device, I am using the Bluemail app and all messages are there and are fine so it appears to be related to Thunderbird 102 upgrade.

I have used Thunderbird for years and this is an issue I have never seen? I am running an IMAP account.

I've been using my banking site for many years on my desktop computer. Today the site comes up but when I try to log in I get a "404" error message. I tried logging in with Edge and there was no problem. I have deleted all my banking cookies on Mozilla and the result is the same. This is a major problem and I would appreciate any suggestions.

The browser crashes whenever I quit or attempt to restart. By restarting I mean selecting Troubleshoot Mode from the menu or pressing the button to delete the start-up cache and restart. Hi there,

We use GMail/ Calendar/ Drive for our business. On the official account, I am seeing a continuous - multi-day - situation where my Google Drive won't load when I point my browser to it unless I do at least one refresh after getting to Drive and waiting for my list of folders and documents to show up.

In the mean time, the following error shows upon on the bottom left of my screen - "The server encountered an error. Please try again later." - this has persisted for over 2 weeks when I restarted using Fiefox earlier this month. I do not get this error when using Chrome or Safari.

Today, I am also not able to see the user who last modified a document or a folder last, as you can see in the image below.

Please tell me what I can do to fix this issue.

New draft copy created on each save (POP3) [repost]

Hello! I'm writing this post because my previous post after a long time is still unsolved: please see at https://support.mozilla.org/it/questions/1246436.

As described:

  • Each time I save/close a draft message, a new updated copy of the message is created in the local Draft folder, but the old one isn't deleted.
  • AutoSave do the same

Steps done:

  • removed all IMAP accounts.
  • verified that draft settings point correctly into "Other" Global Account Draft folder.
  • restarted TB in safe mode and tested again.
  • repaired the Draft folder with right click > repair
  • tried to rebuild Draft folder.

Regarding last step done, I tried to rebuild Draft folder from the Local Folders. This didn't work because if I:

  • first close TB,
  • remove Draft and Draft.MSF files and
  • restart TB,

TB itself does NOT recreate the Draft folder as expected; and each time I save a draft I receive an error asking to use a new local-draft folder because Draft folder is having an issue.

Please also note I already read this KB/thread:

without any success. :(

Regarding the last question (#1282944) I didn't find any Drafts and Drafts.msf files into 'Mail' folder - 'pop mail account name folder'.

Dearest creators, Firefox for Android have a bothering issue. In any Android phone while listening directly from SoundCloud site not from app, while only in background the sound of the music is clipped and sometimes interrupted. I only use Firefox and also as a music player and it's perfect, but lately I have found that SoundCloud have problems with audio rendering while (in my case only) Firefox is in background. Also for this site cannot be applied any sound equalizer compared to any other YT or online radio. Please fix this issue... You're the best!
