Ghost folder unable to delete. Error message: no such mailbox exists

When I set up Thunderbird to link to my Alpine Webmail, I had to re-organize my folders. One folder, titled "mail" cannot be deleted because according to TB "no such mailbox exists" but still displays on my folders tab. I have read through previous threads and have tried unsubscribing the ghost folder but that has not worked either. I have a Mac OSX if that affects anything. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

Hi everyone. I fixed the issue... somehow. By removing the account from TB and setting it up again, TB was able to synch with the folders that were on Alpine. The ghost folder still showed up (despite not existing on the Alpine site), but by changing the IMAP server directory from "mail" to "mailbox" the ghost folder disappeared. I ended up with folders that were named oddly (most likely due to changing the directory name) so when I changed the IMAP server directory back to "mail" it reset my folders to the way they were, with the exception of the ghost folder, which was no longer there. I'm not entirely sure why this worked, but in case someone else has a similar issue, I recommend giving it a try.

Thanks everyone for your comments and help.

I am curious,,,, what happens if you select the folder for synchronisation?

It gives me the same error message: "The current operation on 'mail' did not succeed. The mail server for account xx@xx.com responded: Can't open mailbox: mail/mail: no such mailbox"

If you log into your account at the providers web mail page do you see the folder there? If so, can you do anything with it there?
