Videos won't play from websites like yahoo, MSN. Using Windows 8, everything up to date.
I have tried all the suggested remedies for this problem and nothing seems to work. Flash is up to date and enabled, cleared cookies, started Firefox in safe mode and reset Firefox. The problem also seems to happen in Chrome as well.
Chosen solution
Problem solved! I downloaded and installed Firefox 24.0 Beta. Apparently Mozilla programming team made all the right changes in the new release. Now all videos starting working on Yahoo and BBC.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

This post fixed the issue of no video on Yahoo on Firefox on Windows 8.
dbozza, that post didn't help.
I have the same problem, and I have tried all the troubleshooting and checked other support articles and users with similar problems, but still no luck.
All plugins are up to date. Internet Explorer plays all these files without any problem, so I know it has to be Firefox issue or bug.
For example, I cannot play this video on Firefox, but it plays on IE:

I just downloaded FF 24.0 and still having the same problem on Yahoo. Flash works on the adobe site. Also works fine in IE and Chrome. I have no admin rights. It worked fine until I upgraded to somewhere around V20.
