I have a mac os x 10.5.8 The firefox version I had (3.6) keeps crashing today, and I want to know WHY you automatically tell me to update, and download, and THEN when its downloaded I'm told me that my mac won't support the latest version of firefox. Well DUH, are YOU going to buy me a new computer? Where can I get a version thats compatible with what I have? (for gsake, I can't keep getting new computers everytime they invent an update.) I've been a loyal user of firefox because I like its tabs and user friendliness, but i'm getting well miffed by this constant FORCED updating. If it ain't broke don't fix it, so why do you keep BREAKING it?

Mozilla supported the old OSX 10.5 until last November 20 last year with Fx 16.0.2 being the last then even though Apple stopped supporting 10.5 a lot sooner. https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2012/10/04/we-bid-you-adieu-spotted-cat/

Since you have a Intel and if you meet the system requirements you could try updating to OSX 10.6 rather cheaply.

Here are two options, update (costs money i think) mac, or install linux (free)

Chrome has also stopped supporting 10.5 https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2599452?hl=en

Current Firefox versions require OS X 10.6 or later, so if you want to continue using Firefox beyond Firefox 16 then you need to update to OS X 10.6.8 or later.

Firefox 16.0.2 is the last version that works on an Intel Mac with the OS X 10.5 operating system.

Another option to consider is to install the last Firefox 10.0.x ESR version as that version is more recent than the Firefox 16.0.2 version.

Firefox 17 ESR has replaced the Firefox 10 ESR version, so don't update.
