"Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded Error -- NO SOLUTIONS HERE HELPED
I have a MAC OS X version 10.7.5. I upload firefox and received the message: Profile Missing. Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible. I tried everything on the page listed and the multiple pages on Google about this problem. Nothing has fixed it. I used a program called AppDelete to completely remove the program and reinstall...3 times. It did not fix the problem. I happily use other browsers but one program I need for my company erroneously requires Firefox. Before I eliminate that vendor is there anything else you can suggest? Or perhaps an intent to fix this problem which appears to be rampant among Mac and PC users?
Chosen solution
I'm not sure if this is the same problem, but basically I have reset Firefox to the default settings, however when I search for a page (eg. facebook or yahoo) it says "Unable to connect - Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.google.com" This is not happy with Explorer, that is allowing me to surf the net freely. I can't find any kind of support team to email about this, can somebody help me with this? If not, can someone point me in the direction of who to ask?? Cheers

Is there a profile present? You can check that in your user library at the path /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<randomstuff>.default. In order to see the user library you have to use one of a few tricks available.
If the profile got damaged, you can move that folder to the desktop, then launch Firefox and it should make a new one. You might be able to rescue some of the files from the old profile, such as bookmark backups.
This is something I have already done but checking again to verify.
For my computer the Library directory is in the hard drive outside the Users folder. When I look in Library the I do have an Application Support folder but firefox is not listed there. I also do not see firefox anywhere else within the library.
Consequently this does not solve the problem.
In Mac OS X v10.7 and later, the $HOME/Library folder is a hidden folder.
Open Finder and use one of these:
- Go > Go To Folder (Shift-Command-G) and in the dialog type: ~/Library
- Open the "Go" menu and hold down the Option key to make the Library appear
- http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90947.html Access hidden user library files
I did that but when I type ~/Library and press "Go" it says that folder can't be found. I am able to find the library folder however when I look in the Macintosh HD directory. The folders there are Applications, Library, System, User Guides and Information and Users. When I go into Library I do not find anything related to Firefox at all.

Hi LizzieP
What is your Operating System?
Are you on Mac as well like the original poster (thread owner) or on the Windows platform?
Hi Lizzie,
I wrote the original post, followed the instructions above and it did not solve the problem. I tried other online sources as well and found many others with the same problem but no new solutions. I gave up and simply use Chrome without problem. Maybe you will have better luck. I was an avid Firefox user several years ago so it's really too bad they don't have a better means for solving these issues.
Try to use the Profile Manager to create a new profile.
See "Creating a profile":
Did that and it did not help. I actually created the profile a few times and used diagnostic tools to entirely remove Mozilla and try again.
I'm on a Windows platform... Thanks all for your help, nothing seems to have worked so far though :o( Any other ideas by any chance??
