Firefox could once pretend it was another make of browser eg. Internet Explorer. Is this facility still available? Thank you for your help.

Some organisations claim not to support Firefox, only IE. I had this problem some time ago and Firefox at that time had a feature that on log on to such a site could pretend to be another make of browser. Is this feature still avaiable? Your guesses on current browser and OS are correct. I am running Linux Mint 12. Regards

Chosen solution

There is no guarantee that changing the user agent makes the site work.
If they use IE proprietary code (JScript or VBScript) or special ActiveX controls then it will only work in IE.
It may be possible to run an older version of IE (e.g. IE6) under Wine.

This did not work for me. But I tried using IE from another machine and it still did not work, so there is something at fault at the site. Thank you for the very speedy reply. I seem to have wasted your time, for which I appologise. Regards
