That is Xandros, from 2007. How you got 3.0.4 to run on Xandros is beyond me, the GTK package is too old.

Your best bet is to install a new operating system, like maybe Ubuntu 11.04. It's not an easy job though, it gets a bit more complicated because you don't have a CD/DVD drive in the EeePC. You have to get the ISO image onto a USB Flash stick first.

That is what I did last summer with my EeePC 900 model.

Are you running Xandros Linux?
If you don't know, what does the start up screen say when you first turn your EeePC on?

Xandros just won't handle Firefox 5 without a major upgrade of some of the Linux packages. It would be easier to just install a newer Linux distro, like Ubuntu 11.04, that to try to patch Xandros (which dates to 2007).

Hi Edmeister

I am running Asus - phision...is that what you mean? it comes up when I switch on as asus, the computer was brought last year, the system information says created 2009

Asus - phision = that is the SolidStateDrive that ASUS uses on the EeePC.

When you turn your EeePC on, which screen does your look like?
1.
