Can I delete the Firefox icon that looks like a drive from my desktop after putting the browser in my dock?

I just installed firefox and the icon that looks like a drive is still on my desktop. Can I throw it in the trash? Or does that disrupt the whole system? Thanks!

Did you install Firefox by dragging it to your Applications folder? If yes, then you can safely drag the drive to Trash.

I too have the orange Firefox drive icon and the blue install folder on my desktop. Firefox is installed on my hard-drive and an icon is in the dock. I tried ejecting the drive icon as suggested above, but both the drive and folder icon return every time I open Firefox. It's distracting and I'd like to remove both. Thanks.
