I received a cash prize spam allegedly from you. Should I forward it to your fraud department?

Posted

I received the following e-mail:

Your E-mail Address has won (Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Great British Pounds only) GBP750,000 in the Mozilla Firefox Online promo. To claim the prize, contact us back for confirmation at: claimsunit2011@inMail.sk Congratulations Grace Blue {Miss} Coordinator, Mozilla firefox Inc.

I suspect this is a scam of some sort. Banks have fraud departments that they ask recipients to forward this type of e-mail to. Do you have the same type of policy?

Chosen solution

Please report misuse of the Firefox trademark in websites using the Mozilla's Violating Website Report page and in emails by forwarding them to Mozilla's abuse email.

darren, this was a hoax as it was not sent by Mozilla.

See http://blog.gerv.net/2011/08/hoax_mozilla_firefox_online_promo/ as it was a earlier scam attempt.
