When will FireFox5 be upgraded to work with Avast Antivirius software?
When I first got the message that the new FireFox5 update was out I downloaded and began installing until it came to the part where it said that my virus program Avast was incompatible with the new version of FireFox. By that time I had to go looking for a my previous version to reinstall, I can't update the browser and have it shut down my virus software. If the problem isn't solved I'll go looking for another browser. I'm just glad I told a friend NOT to update so he didn't have to go through what I had to do.

I believe you misread or misunderstood that message about Avast, Firefox can and does only disable add-ons for Firefox due incompatibility with the new versions of Firefox. It doesn't disable the entire anti-virus application, and good anti-virus applications don't allow another installed program to disable them. I'm sure the message said that the Avast WebRep add-on would be disabled. Avast needs to supply an updated Web Rep add-on for Firefox 5.
You can look at the new pre-release version of Avast for compatibility with Firefox 5.

I think Mozilla should have additional details explaining that it was the Extension in Firefox that would be disabled and not the anti-virus software itself that would be disabled. Not sure if that could be done as the message is probably the same regardless of extension.
Seems to be the occasional misunderstanding in relation to the Avast and McAfee and such similar extensions where some misread the message and panic in thinking Firefox will disable their separate anti-virus software.

Alright I'll try again and read more carefully. I'll also tell my friend if everything goes ok.
Thank you for such a quick rely.
