The 'Sync Now' option on my desktop Firefox menu won't work, nothing happens!


Please, will someone go to the firefox menu and see if this happens. Click the menu and then click 'Sync Now'. This is a gliche! I hope firefox fixes it!

Sync runs in the background, so you will not see anything happen when it starts or finishes. This is normal. Sync happens automatically every 1 to 5 minutes, or you can start a sync immediately by using the "Sync Now" menu command.

I guess what I was trying to do was ESTABLISH the original sync. I am still having trouble with getting my computer synced to my DROID at all, EVER. I have the key but the other links didn't work on my phone. Now it's been a few days and I'm lost. Where do I go from here?

If you have not yet connected your phone to your Firefox Sync account, you can follow the directions here to connect it. Start by opening the Firefox preferences on your phone and pressing the "Connect" button. If you are having problems with these instructions, let us know.

If you have already successfully gone through the connection process but are still having problems, please let us know which problems you are seeing.

FYI, My Sync hasn't been working for almost two days now. It'll not sync in my Laptop, and it will not sync in my HTC EVO 4G either. I think there's something wrong with the Sync server. I have searched everywhere and couldn't find out where to get help about this issue. Though I did post my problem in the Sync Add-on Review page, I doubt anything could be done there. So I just have to wait and see. The reason I think the server is down because it used to display an error message "cannot sync due to unknown error" and now it won't even do that. And when I move my mouse cursor on the Sync icon, it did not show the last time it was synced.

Personally, Firefox Sync hasn't been working flawlessly since it was incorporated into FF4. Many times it couldn't sync successfully, but it usually lasted for a few hours only. This time it has lasted two days so far.

Besides Sync, I am also using Xmarks as well as LastPass as a backup.

Thanks. It just seemed like none of the original links were working when I first attempted. Very frustrating. Glad to know I'm not the only one having trouble. Hope they get it fixed. They could take some lessons from the Kindle people. Their syncs are flawless, instantaneous, SIMPLE and consistent. No rigmarole! I can read my books from my pc, lap, phone or kindle, EFFORTLESSLY, wherever I am! Sigh, if only...

You are right. To me, Sync is not one of the strong feature of Firefox. It has problems even in the 3.6 versions. That's why I use Xmarks and LastPass also instead of depending on Sync alone.

skarppala -- My Sync still will not sync today and I don't want to wait any longer. So I went ahead and delete my Sync account, create a new one and so far my Sync is working again.

I went to the Mozilla-Labs-Weave forum and found that many users have the same problem and most of them suggest to delete and create a new Sync account, which mostly, will solve the problem.

So if you still have the problem, you can do so accordingly. Be be sure to backup your Bookmarks and Passwords before you delete your Sync account, just in case.
