How to load Gopher pages in Firefox 4? Firefox 3 works.

Posted

I was giving a Gopher page demo to a computer user group on 3/16/11, and attendees that had upgraded to Firefox4 could not view the pages while the attendees who were still on Firefox3 could. Please provide Gopher page support in Firefox4 and future verions. There are plenty of vintage computer enthusiasts and computer historians that would appreciate Gopher support. Gopher (gopher:) predated the Web (http:) by a number of years. A list of Gopher sites to try can be found at gopher://sdf.org/1/maps/ or better yet, gopher://gopher.floodgap.com.

You can add back gopher support by using the OverbiteFF extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/overbiteff
